A thousand mile flight and I'm back to the middle of nowhere—Khovd. This time it is such a treat to be here. Watermelon season is just around the corner, and I bought a blender so I'm ready to make some gnarly smoothies. As my buddies know, I've always loved making smoothies.
Update on vegetarian life:
I've been eating chicken lately. Yeah, it’s actually real good. Why have you guys let me miss out on this my whole life?
The branch in Khovd is a huge piece of work. Very few members showed up to church yesterday 'cause the leadership has been struggling without any missionaries here these last few months. Our special assignment from President is to strengthen the branch here. Already in the last 2 days of being here, we have received several referrals from members and friends.
Khovd University is on break right now, but I will start teaching again in the fall. As of right now, my companion, Elder Lichtenberg, and I teach a private English club at the chapel. Elder Lichtenberg and I get along great. We're good bros, so life is good. He has frat boy tendencies and finished college in Michigan.
My previous investigator (from when I was in Khovd 3 months ago) showed up to church with his member girlfriend. His name is Zaikaa and he is an awesome guy. He's 23 years-old and might be a golden investigator. He called us yesterday and asked us to hang out or go on a hike together so he will probably be picking us up soon! Zaikaa seems to do well for himself 'cause it’s super rare for people to have a car in Mongolia, especially Khovd. Not one member in my last area owned a car.
Anyway, we're gonna go on a hike! Talk to you all next week. Hope you're all having the best summer and soaking up those rays of sun.
