HAPPY NEW YEAR! #PleaseStopAskingMeForChristmasPresents

A thing that happens in the Philippines is that is you are white and you are here in Christmas time people ask you for a "Pinaskohan" (Christmas gift). They also sing to you a little bit then ask for a gift and bang on your gate for a gift. Haha it is the best because it is still happening and it is not even Christmas anymore.
We had interviews with President Pajaro this week. It was really cool to have interviews because he is just such a Spiritual man. He was amazed with the progress Sister Murphy and I have with the area. In fact he is so happy with the companionship Sister Murphy and I have that we may stay together after this transfer!!!!! HAHA I really hope we do I love her so much.
I call the flowers that glow shocky flowers because if you touch them you die from electrocution
We celebrated New Years with the Zone. We ate lots of sweets and watched cheesy Mormon movies. At 6 was our curfew because things can get pretty crazy here on New Years. We celebrated at midnight by drinking sparkling grape juice and singing that one New Years song that no one really knows the words to.
I love the feeling of a New Year. You get to reflect and think about how much you grown and wow you think about how much you will change in this New Year. I can be totally honest when I say I did not think I would be half way around the world preaching the Gospel here in the Philippines. But I am happy I am here. I am happy to serve. I hope you all have and amazing year and that you actually keep your goals this year. Me? I have to stop singing pop songs. It is my weak point. Adele was playing last night #SomeoneLikeYou and I was DYING.
I think one of my favorite moments was on the bus back from Trozo i was talking to this guy and I was speaking Bisaya and he asked me how many years I've been here and I said just 2 months and he was really impressed by that. I then remembered I was speaking Bisaya and I was impressed too.
I wonder what will happen in a year. I wonder where I will be serving. I wonder lots of things but the best way to do the Lords work is to work in the moment for others and just do your best.
The funny thing that happened this week was that a lady came to Church and Sister Murphy and I were so surprised because we barely spoke to her when we invited her. We thought she was wanting the Gospel but we come up to her and she goes "Naa Ka'y pinaskohan?" (do you have a Christmas gift?)
NO I DO NOT HAVE A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR YOU ONLY THE RESTORED GOSPEL!!!!

Haha i love you all so much I hope you have a great year and you keep doing your own thing.

Love,
Sister McKendrick
LINE OF THE WEEK:
Me:*walks into 7-11 covered in mud and looking hagard*Random lady: *sees I am white* Oh my gosh you are so beautiful

don't worry everyone I will not be conceited when I come back home. A kid chased me down the other day down the street to tell me something really important...that I had a big nose. He was probably 6 and I said thank you. I love the kids here I really do.
