I am still serving in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. My new companion is Sister Castleton who I trained over 6 months ago. Serving together again is a dream come true for both of us.
This past week we had zone conference. Sister Castleton and I are the Sister leaders for our zone so we had some responsibilities for the conference. I really saw the hand of God that day help us accomplish everything. I have realized that one of the most important life skills is problem solving.
We also found many opportunities to serve lately. One of these was on a farm. I got to shovel poop out of a stable and clear logs in a forest. I think I could be a good farm girl. (I realized I am more of a plant person than an animal person)
My spiritual thought today is that God is all powerful and He can ease our burdens. In Mosiah 24 we can read about Alma and his people. They were righteous good people, yet the were still persecuted and held captive. As Elder Maxwell said "one’s life … cannot be both faith-filled and stress-free.” I loved these verses that show God's response to the cries of Alma's people.
"And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage. And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions."Mosiah 24:13-14
I know that God does ease our burdens, if we choose to be his people. We are all His children of course, but we can choose to be his people through our obedience and through keeping our covenants. I have experienced this myself, especially in the past year I have been in Slovenia.
I would love to hear from any of you always. Thanks for your love and support. Sestra King
