Family and friends,
How goes it?! Well, it has been quite darn stinking busy out here in Alamogordo but boy is it fun! This past weekend there were 3 baptisms!! I honestly did not know or understand stress until I had to help get together 3 people for baptism... I had like 10 heart attacks in less that 24 hours, but it's cool, that's what makes mission memories, right? Hahaha.
The baptisms all worked out and we were sooo happy for EACH ONE of the sweet people we have gotten to help, get prepared, and be there for on those special days. We love this sweet family! This specific family will forever have a profound influence on my life. I am so thankful for them and for their sweet spirits.
This week Sister Thomas and I have gotten to see what the power of peace can bring into someone's life through the Savior Jesus Christ. Even if that peace is only for a minute or moment at a time. We had the opportunity to meet with a few different people who have backgrounds that I cannot describe... (one, because a lot of the details aren't too great to be sharing in a missionary email), and two, because there is sooo much pain and trauma these people have experienced that would be impossible to put into adequate words. People go through so.much.hardship, and then they try desperately to find peace! Most of the time though, in their efforts to find peace, they get tied up in addictions and circumstances that will only bring them more hardship and turmoil. As missionaries, we get the sweet and special opportunity to help these people find peace in the right places. The message that we shared with some of them this week was the music video for the youth song "Peace in Christ". When we showed them this song and then have them listen to it.... the Spirit.is.so.strong! Every time, without fail, there are a lot of tears at the end of the video. We get to help these hurt and wounded people recognize the Spirit and also encourage that desire in their hearts to change and find peace through Christ. That is where true peace and comfort are found.
This week, I encourage ALL of you to take a step back and reevaluate how you are finding "peace". Are we finding peace in the right places? All too many times, I think we find ourselves needing peace, but we try to find it in things or places that are just temporary or that will inevitably bring us more pain and heart ache in the end. I want to encourage everyone to listen to the song, "Peace in Christ", and watch the video if you can! Pay attention to how you feel, what thoughts you have in response to watching and listening, and ask yourself how you can better find peace in your life through Christ!
