Hermana Maxfield

My grace is sufficient for you.

Another crazy week has passed by. We had zone conference, intercambios (exchanges), and interviews with President Castillo so we weren´t really in our area like normal. I have learned so much this week and I have no idea where to start.

Here are some of our investigators.
Sarais- Went to EFY this week so we weren´t able to teach her, but she should be getting baptized soon.
Olisledy - 16 years old, going to get baptized next Saturday. Has changed so mcuh and has a love for our dear prophet Thomas S. Monson and the Book of Mormon.
Ezequiel - Wants to read the full Book of Mormon. He was an old investigator and we started teaching him again and the lessons have been so spiritual. He's in a cast right now.
Those are pretty much the ones that we have had for a while.

Anyway, the zone conference talked about finding new people to teach and this has always been a problem for me during my mission so I wasn´t looking forward to it and kind of rebelled a little bit... then I had my interview with President Castillo and he told me very boldly and lovingly that I could do better and work harder. He told me to think of what others need and not of what I want for those people. After that interview we had intercambios and I just felt soooo overwhelmed with all of the stuff my leaders were asking of me, but as usual my scripture studies helped me to feel my Father in Heaven´s love. I was feeling so down on myself and just feeling like a terrible missionary, but I found 2 scriptures and a definition that helped me out they are in Jacob 4 verse 7, Doctrine and Covenants 88 verse 78-81 and the definition of Grace in the Bible Dictionary.

Doctrine and Covenants says, ¨Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand;
80 That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you.
81 Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people,and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor.
I loved this because President Castillo told me to work harder. He instructed me to be better and it has helped me to teach the people this past week. God has prepared me to teach these people and President Castillo is helping magnify my calling. We are here to warn our brothers and sisters by testifying of this gospel! Sometimes our leaders tell us stuff that is hard to hear, but it helps us to become better when we humble ourselves and listen to them. They are inspired of God to give us those revelations of the Spirit.

Then after that in Jacob 4 verse 7 it says: Nevertheless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace, and his great condescensions unto the children of men, that we have power to do these things.

What is grace? The Bible Dictionary says, "The main idea of
the word is divine means to help or strength, given through the bounteous mercy and love of Jesus Christ. It is through the grace of the Lord that individuals, through faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance of their sins, receive strength and assistance to do good works that they otherwise would not be able to maintain if left to their own means. This grace is an enabling power that allows men and women to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation after they have expended their own best efforts."
We have our weaknesses so that we can use the Savior´s atonement in our lives. We can gain his DIVINE help and strength if we do everything that we can do. If we do our best, we receive this enabling power to do what we couldn´t have done ourselves. I have seen that this week and as I have humbled myself and followed the counsel of my leaders, I have felt that strength and power.

We had a great lesson with a new investigator named Maria. I asked her if she had asked which of all the churches were true and she said, ¨You know, right now I am really confused about that.¨All I remember is that I said to her, ¨Hermana, you don´t have to be confused anymore.¨ Then I started sharing the experience of Joseph Smith and had her read James 1 verse 5. She applied this scripture to herself. She said, ¨This scripture is for people like me that are confused about which church is the true church.¨ Then feeling the spirit, I don´t remember what I said but I started crying and then said the first vision in tears. Hermana Maxfield and I testified so strongly that we were all in tears. I am just so amazed by the power that we can all have when we have the Spirit with us. We can be instruments in the Lord´s hands.

I love you all and hope you got something out of my email this week. Have a great week!
