This week was a crazy one! They called me on Thursday to tell me that I had to go to Santiago in emergency to renew my visa in Santo Domingo. We lost two days in Esperanza and that was so hard, but it is great to not be illegal in this country now ahaha. We left from Santiago at 5 am to make it to Santo Domingo and I didn´t sleep at all that night, so I was sooo tired. We were there until 4 pm and didn´t make it back to Esperanza until 8:30.
So this week we just happened to stop by a members house who FINALLY got to go to the temple and she told us all about her experience and how EVERYTHING worked out the way it was supposed to. I didn´t know what I was gonna share with her, but as we were saying the prayer the Spirit told me to share a story that my mom had shared with me last week and the Spirit was so strong. I was almost in tears. As I have talked to so many people about my mission I am just brought to tears because it is very special to me! Also with Sarais, she told us that she FINALLY feels ready to be baptized so we are going to baptize her after she goes to EFY. We are so excited!! Some other good news is that the mute lady that we talked with is going to get baptized too! She has come to church ever since we talked to her and we might get to teach her too!! We are so excited.
We taught a pastor yesterday and that was interesting. He just wanted to talk about how the Church of Jesus Christ was never supposed to be lost. He also talked about how all the people that believe in Christ are his church. I got a little upset on the inside, but the Spirit told me to calm down and just testify. As I testified, he calmed down and didn´t say anything. I could see that his heart was closed, but that he felt something. I am so grateful for those moments that allow me to trust in the Spirit and I have such a strong testimony that there really is ONE church and that this church was restored by Joseph Smith. It has a prophet, apostles, the priesthood, revelations, and the Bible and Book of Mormon. There is NO other church. It´s the exact same that Jesus Christ established when He was here on the Earth.
I wanted to tell of something that happened to me this passed week. I felt like a terrible missionary and Satan was working really hard on me. As I prayed to my Father in Heaven, He answered me through the scriptures. I read in Helaman 3 verse 35 that says,
¨Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God.¨
I have learned that as we fast and pray, we grow stronger in our humility and faith. This helps us to be filled with joy and peace. Recognizing that we have weaknesses helps us to purify and sanctify our hearts. As we yield our desires and hearts to God, we become more like Him. I am SOOO grateful to be a missionary and see my testimony grow and feel closer to my Savior. I LOVE the Book of Mormon and love to share the gospel with others. I love you all and have a great week!!
