Hermana Maxfield

The Curse of Pink Eye

Hey everyone!

Before you freak out, I don´t have pink eye, but EVERYONE in Esperanaza has it so we are being EXTRA careful not to get it and sorry that there aren´t a lot of pics this week. Nothing interesting happened. I attached pics of Hermana Maxfield and I having our Friday movie night with popcorn and corn cakes and us with the Sister Training Leaders.

Anyway this week we had interviews with President and intercambios (exchanges), so it was a kind of crazy week. I learned SO much though. First of all President Castillo told me to enjoy the mission and keep working diligently with obedience. Then in intercambios I was with Hermana Anderson, someone from the same MTC group as me, and we hit it off REALLY well. We talked with everyone. Everything fell into place even when we weren´t expecting it. I contacted this lady in a little food shop when we stopped to get some soda and I felt the strong impression to leave the Book of Mormon with her with my testimony. So I wrote my testimony and gave it to her. I have no idea what´s going to happen because of that, but you never know. Also when we were walking to someone else, Heavenly Father gave us someone else to talk to. Also update on Josaih... He passed the sacrament on Sunday and it was ADORABLE!!! I love watching him in his firm testimony of this gospel.

We have this couple that we are teaching called Loranny and Omar. They are awesome. Loranny´s dad is a member of the church and they went to church as a family when they were little. We found her by accident looking for someone else. They have the desire to get married AND baptized. The only thing we need to work with is Omar. He chews tobacco and is a little hesitant, but I know we can do it! Also we were waiting for Robinson the other day and one of his friends was there so we decided to teach him. He said he would LOVE to be baptized . That lesson that we had with him was the MOST spiritual lesson I have ever had in my entire mission. We sat there and he asked us the most inspired questions ever. As I said the first vision I was looking at everyone and it was so quiet and so calm that I could tell that the Spirit was there really strong. It´s so cool because I could see it in their eyes that the Spirit was working on them. We taught with some members too. The funny thing is that Bryan - the person we taught - had said hi to us before and we didn´t share anything with him. Heavenly Father is SO awesome like that - that He gave us another opportunity to talk to Bryan.

If anything, this week I learned that we should look for the miracles in EVERY moment. It doesn´t matter what we are doing or where we are, Heavenly Father is constantly in our lives. A scripture that I really love is in Alma 34 verse 38 that says, ¨38 That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you.¨

We should not fight against what the spirit tells us. We have already taken upon us the name of Christ. As we take upon us His name, we need to be humble and worship our Father in Heaven in EVERY moment. When we do that, we will see just how merciful He is and we will see all of His little tender mercies in our lives.

I love you all! Have a great week,
Hermana Maikoski
