Hermana Letinu

11 months down...

Hey everyone!

Sorry I wasn´t able to write yesterday. It was a holiday! I am staying here in Esperanza and I am going to be with Hermana Maxfield. She came in the same group as my trainee. Hermana Letinu is going to Puerto Plata - to my old area. I am so excited for her, but sad that she is leaving.

This week we had 7 investigators in church and it was AMAZING. We decided to tell our investigators if they really wanted to get baptized that they had to come to church and read the Book of Mormon and they came. We have some AWESOME investigators. They are Maribel and Logan. They were a referral of the Elders and they really want to change their lives. They have a kid together and aren´t married, but have the desire to be baptized. We also had a really cool lesson with them where we planned to teach the Restoration again because we need to teach them slow, but the Spirit told us to teach about the Book of Mormon and about prayer. The spirit was so strong and I think that was the turning point for them. With Juan Carlos we are starting with the small stuff. He dropped coffee for 4 days and came to church this Sunday. We´ll see where it goes!

I want to share a quote that I found this week and I loved. It says, ¨Life is not easy. All will be injured in some way. Through all of this we come to know God and we grow to become the Savior´s disciples. Our hearts change, and that change becomes permanent as we continue to choose righteousness over sin and doubt.¨

It has been really hard for me here in Esperanza, but as I have struggled, I have come to know God and grown to become more like my Savior. My heart has changed and I have found the desire to be a better person. All of us have trials in our lives, but if we keep moving forward, we become who our Father in Heaven wants us to be. I am very grateful that I have been able to spend these 11 months sharing the gospel with the people of the DR and I am grateful for the testimony that I have grown and the knowledge that I have of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

I attached pictures of my district, the Family Guzman and my comp and I when we ate Yaroa - french fries, meat, cheese, mayonnaise, and ketchup.

Have a great week and love you all,
Hermana Maikoski
