Hermana Letinu

It´s so much better when you are out sharing the gospel!

Hey everyone!

Every week I am amazed by how fast the weeks are flying by! This week I was sick with a cold so bad that I couldn't move my body! I slept the whole day, but now I am so much better and working harder than ever. From that day, I realized that it´s so much better to be out sharing the gospel! Anyway this week nothing really interesting happened and we don´t really have progressing investigators, but there were some things that I would like to share that I have learned this week.

1- The priesthood power is real and is restored. We have this power in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Elders gave a blessing to an Hermana that has cancer this week and as one of them was giving her the blessing, I felt the spirit so strong. I felt like Heavenly Father was talking directly to the Hermana. We all left in tears. Our Father in Heaven really does know us and works through His priesthood to touch the lives of His children. This is one of the things that our investigators don´t understand here and I have grown to love the priesthood as I have studied more about it.

2- The Book of Mormon is powerful. There is an investigator that was a member but they lost her baptism records a long time ago so we have to teach her the lessons again. She said that she is grateful for this experience because now she has been able to gain a better testimony of the Book of Mormon and she wants to share it with everyone in the world.

Here are a couple of scriptures that I found this week-
This one is in Matthew 19 verses 20-21
¨20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
"21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.¨

As I have sat here thinking about what I could do better as a person and missionary, my comp and I read a talk and found this scripture. What do we need to do? In this case the Lord asked the young man to give up all that he has and that he will be blessed for it, but he wasn´t willing to do that. We need to be humble to ask the Father what we lack and when He gives us the answer, we need to be willing to make sacrifices and follow His divine counsel that we are given.

The second on is in 1 Nephi 18 verses 16-21. It is talking about when Nephi´s brothers bind him, his parents were about to die because of their wickedness and this is what he says about this trial, ¨16 Nevertheless, I did look unto my God, and I did praise him all the day long; and I did not murmur against the Lord because of mine afflictions.
"20 And there was nothing save it were the power of God, which threatened them with destruction, could soften their hearts; wherefore, when they saw that they were about to be swallowed up in the depths of the sea they repented of the thing which they had done, insomuch that they loosed me.
"21 And it came to pass after they had loosed me, behold, I took the compass, and it did work whither I desired it. And it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord; and after I had prayed the winds did cease, and the storm did cease, and there was a great calm."

I loved Nephi´s reaction to his trials. He went and gave thanks to Him. He looked upwards and found the strength to carry on. He didn´t complain but made his situation a positive situation. Soon after they released him he went to the Liahona and it functioned, the storms stopped and there was a calmness. Sometimes things are so hard and people work hard to pull us down, but all we need to do is look up, stay positive, be grateful, and pray to the Father and everything will be fine! We need to remember that sometimes bad things happen to good people, to bring to pass the plan of God. He knows better than us and all we need to do is trust in Him.

I attached pictures of my district with our flags - like Captain Moroni - so that we can keep working hard, a flag that we made a recent convert family to help them get to the temple, me and a HUGE mango, and a purple dragonfly that we found!

Love you all and have a great week,

Hermana Maikoski
