Hermana Shaw

Share the gospel with ANIMO (energy, courage)!

There isn´t really an English word to describe how I feel so I put "animo" in the title haha.

Wow! This week was a great one. As I am sure that all of you have heard there has been a BIG change in the missionary world. We are only focusing on 4 aspects of missionary work. They are the baptisms and confirmations, people with fechas bautismales (baptism dates), new investigators, and people that come to church. This is going to help us to really focus on our purpose as missionaries. We are supposed to invite and help other people come unto Christ. What the Apostles have said is that we should teach repentance and baptize converts. Anyway, back to what happened this week...

I was feeling really down because of some things that happened this week and I couldn´t feel the Spirit as strong and I was just crying and crying, but as I poured my heart out to my Father in Heaven I got the Spirit back :) As I was struggling, I was given opportunities to serve people. I helped this one old lady walk into her house and I just felt Heavenly Father´s love for her. Also I was able to listen to a less-active with all of her problems. As I sat back and thought about it, this thought came into my head, ¨You are you so that others can see the love of Heavenly Father.¨ Heavenly Father told me that my personality is helping others and that I am here for a reason. I am seeing myself in my Father´s eyes and I have never been more happy in my entire life.

I have learned that when you are contacting that you just need to have animo and do it! You need to be so ready to do the Lord´s will and find the people that are ready for this Gospel. You can only do that with the help of the Spirit, but you have to have the positive attitude that you are going to find them!

Also with Omar: one day last week he told us how worried he was about if Jesus came right now how he wouldn´t want to go to the telestial kingdom, haha. I guess we taught him really well and he still has a really strong desire to get baptized. We are really hoping that his baptism will happen this week! Also we are teaching this Haitian called Chanita. She is AWESOME. She has members in her family that are members. She has a desire to be baptized so bad, but she has to get married first and that´s gonna take a while, but she wants it so bad! That´s pretty much all I know about her so far. I´ll keep you updated!¨

The scripture that I wanna share this week is in Mosiah 18:29, it says,

¨And this he said unto them, having been commanded of God; and they did walk uprightly before God, imparting to one another both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and their wants.¨

We should always walk in the right paths to God and we should always help one another BOTH temporally and spiritually. I love this because I have seen the joy that I have received from serving others. That is our purpose here on Earth. Not only to grow for ourselves, but to help others grow as well. Sometimes we may have to go out of our way to help others, but we really will become more Christ-like as we do that. I know that each of us have something that we can use to help others.

I love you all and have a great week,
Hermana Maikoski
