Puerto Plata

Hermana Lopez

My real 6 months in the field!

Hey everyone!

This week was a very interesting one. My companion has an ingrown toenail and her other foot is really swollen. Also she feels really sick to her stomach, so we have been taking things really slow this week. One day a member drove us around to all of our citas and that was really nice! I got my Christmas package from my family and I absolutely loved it!

One day this week we traveled to Cabarete and it is an hour away from us, but it is in our area. We saw their terrible circumstances from all the rain. It is all flooded and all their sewage is in the water. A recent convert lives over there and we went to go visit her. She greeted us with boots and with a HUGE smile. We sat down and talked with her. We later found out that she was going to the temple for the first time since she had been baptized and that she was going to be able to do the work for her parents in the temple. She was so excited and nervous! It brought me back to when I first visited the temple. She has such a strong testimony of the gospel and of the temple. Her joy shown through even though she was struggling with the flood. All of her stuff had been drenched and she didn´t have food, but she has such a strong faith that she knows that God loves her and is taking care of her. Also, the members are helping her so much and I can feel their love for her. She is such a great example to me and she gave me the boost that I needed this week. Always remember to look on the bright side and remember that Heavenly Father has a plan just for YOU.

Another experience that we had was yesterday. I was feeling really low because I totally messed up playing the piano in sacrament meeting yesterday. Also we are practicing for Stake conference in the choir and I am going to play for that and I totally just screwed that up. BUT Heavenly Father sent a little angel my way. Her name is Gabi and she is 11 years old. She reminded me so much of my sweet little sister Emalee. She was very sensitive to the Spirit and knew exactly what I needed. I have never felt so close to my family in my entire mission. I felt Heavenly Father wrap His loving arms around me through this little girl. She came with us to our lessons and shared her sweet, little testimony. It helped me to realize that it doesn´t matter how old or how young we are, we CAN make a difference in other people´s lives. When Jesus Christ was born, he already had made a huge impact on the world. I love that! Remember that YOU can make a difference too. That´s why we are all here: to help one another through our experiences.

Love you all and have a great week!

I attached a pic of Caberete and of the Christmas package stuff!
