Hermana Hall

Hey everyone!

Hey everyone!

This week was soo slow, but that is okay. We had a 2 week meeting in Santiago on Wednesday and that was pretty cool. I got to see my friends from the MTC. Also the next day, I just broke down into tears because I was having such a hard time. I was so frustrated with my Spanish, so I just stopped and said a prayer. I cried my heart out to my Heavenly Father. I know that He knows us and our situations. We just need to take a step back and talk to Him instead of trying to do it all on our own. One thing that is hard about missionary work in the DR is that no one wants to get married, so it is hard to get these families and people baptized. We had a neat experience yesterday with a less-active youth. She attended SOY (aka EFY) and she absolutely loved it. Her experience helped me to remember why I am out here. Because of SOY she wants to serve a mission as well. She said it really changed her life. It is so hard for her to keep coming to church because she is the only member and her family doesn't support her, but she has a strong testimony that really touched my heart,

Something that I studied this week was a talk called the 4th missionary. Here is a quote that I really liked, ¨The purpose and essential blessing of life is to be changed and to become more like the Lord, to realize the full measure of your potential... Redemptive change happens by the power of the HG. But happens only if and when your heart is right. It happens only if you do not fight against God. It happens only if you unconditionally surrender your will to the Lord. You cannot be spiritually changed against your will... our nature can change. You may permit the Lord to change your nature if you give yourself to Him. In the end, your heart and your will is all that you have to give that the Lord does not already have.¨

I liked that whole quote because we cannot give all of ourselves unless we give God our heart and our will. He will change us into better people if we just give ALL of ourselves to Him. We need to be willing to say to the Lord, Ï give up. I surrender. I won't fight anymore. Here it is. Here are my desires. Here is my will. I only want to do what you want me to do and that's enough for me. I really needed to hear this last week. I had no idea how to give my all and become the best missionary. Even though most of you are not missionaries, I know that you can still use this principle. When things are hard and things just aren't going your way remember who is in charge. He loves you and knows what is best for you.

I love you all!

The pictures are of me and a less-active member's little girl named Camila, a huge beetle that we played with, our DR food that we made that has fried everything- fried cheese, fired eggs, onions, fried salami, and yuka.
