Hermana Hall

Heavenly Father guides our lives

Hey everyone!

This past week has been great! We have an investigator named Irkania. She is super nice and she helps me to laugh. We invited her to come to church, but she works on Sundays so we asked her to talk to her boss about it. She did. She has a BIG desire to change her life and wants to baptized but she needs to get married to her husband. She marks in her scriptures and follows up with her commitments. Anyway, so we came back to her work the other day and she had asked her boss if she could take an hour off so she could go to church and.... her boss said she could! She ended up coming to church with us yesterday. It was WAY cool.

A funny story from this week... so we were walking to a cita (meeting) and a drunk guy came up and kisssed our hands and called us beautiful. I tried to pull my hand away, but he grabbed it tighter... Hermana Hall and I were trying so hard not to laugh, but we invited him to church haha.

Now to the title of my email. So the other day we had planned to go see an old investigator. We could not find where they lived so we asked this lady at the salon. We found the people and they weren't interested, so we walked past the salon again and almost walked past the lady at the salon, but decided to go back. She let us in and we taught her the first past of the first lesson. I was so awkward, but I knew God allowed that so she could take the Restoration pamphlet out of my hand and read it haha. This lady was very open and interested and she talked a lot. Then later that day we were going to teach English to a girl and she was late to her house, so we just sat there and talked with her mom. We had found out that her mom had just died, so we gave her a plan of salvation pamphlet. Then at that same house we encountered a less-active member´s son. We sat there and talked to him. It was just amazing that Heavenly Father knew exactly where we needed to be and who needed us. Also we had a Noche De Hogar - FHE with the branch and we shared our testimonies about how the gospel brings us joy. I was able to express myself and the spirit was so strong. Also We had another cita with a less-active member and we didn't know what to share so we came into her house and just chose a scripture. I started to doubt the prompting that I had but we shared the scripture anyway. It was exactly what she needed. She said it touched her heart and she started to cry. It was so amazing. Then one day we really wanted some icecream and fruit, but we didn't want to be late to our citas, so we just kept walking. Then once we got to our cita, the lady gave us BOTH ice cream and fruit. It was amazing how when we were obedient, the Lord provided for us.

Yesterday I was reading The Sacrament-A Renewal for the Soul and I found something interesting. It made me think about how as a missionary we literally take on the name of Christ. What does it mean to take on the name of Christ
Henry B. Eyring said, "That means we must see ourselves as His. We will put Him 1st in our lives. We will want what He wants rather than what we want or what the world teaches us to want." At times it is SO hard to do that, but I know that we will be blessed as we do so and we will gain great joy.

I love you guys,
Hermana Maikoski
