CCM (Missionary Training Center)

Hermana Evelyn

Padre Celestial es un Dios de Milagros. (Heavenly Father is a God of miracles).

First of all 5 more days left in the CCM!!! WAHOO. I am so excited to finally go out to the field next Wednesday. I am not sure if I will be able to email next week, so keep an eye out and don't be worried if I don't email.

So on Friday I went to the field for splits with the sisters in this area and it was sooo much fun. It helped me to remember why I came out to be a missionary. Anyway, so it started out with it pouring down rain as we were walking to the sisters' apartment. That was fun, haha. We were sooo soaked. Many of the Dominicans offered for us to come into their houses because they did not want us to get sick (which I did haha). I had a cold for the next couple of days and I even couldn't talk it was so bad. One amazing experience that I would like to share is one with this lady and I cannot remember her name for the life of me. (it is hard for me to remember Spanish names for some reason) Anyway, we met with this helper lady. She has lived with members for 10 years and she knows about the Mormons. The only downside of her living with the members is that the members do not regularly attend church. Also my companion at the time, Hermana Randall, said that this lady never has sat down for a lesson before and that she would never commit to going to church because that is the only day she has with her family. Anyway so we started out with a song and she loved that. Then she wanted me to say the opening prayer and I DID! All in Spanish too. We talked to her about how important prayer is. She already had a really strong testimony of prayer and something she told us really touched my heart. She said that God was her best friend and that she knew she could always to talk to Him. He would always answer her prayers. She said that she prayed the Lord's prayer, but at the end of the lesson she prayed for us in the way that we say prayers. This time we committed her to go to church with us and she said she would go! It was really amazing. I just think that God is so great and that He loves each of His children. He waited until I came to allow this woman to open up her heart and to go to church.

On Saturday's there are lots of people at the CCM. This Saturday though, Hermana Evelyn and I played tag and chased all of the little kids around the CCM. The little kids loved playing with our hair and they took pictures with us. It was exactly what I needed that day. I love how Heavenly Father knows that I just love little children and that is one way that He shows me He loves me. On the 4th of July, we sang a lot of patriotic songs and even said the pledge of allegiance. Then on July 5th we saw fireworks! It was so awesome and made me remember how much I love America.

I just want to leave you all with my testimony that our Heavenly Father loves each and everyone of us. He knows our thoughts and hearts. I have strong testimony of how the scriptures are the words of God and how God will speak to us through them. My Savior lives and He suffered for me. He suffered for my struggles and for my physical pain. I know that if we forget ourselves then we will be able to serve the Lord better. I had an experience yesterday when we were studying our scriptures at the temple. Our teacher Hermana Dume told us to forgot ourselves, forget what happened before our missions, don't worry about our families, forget how tired you are, forget how you don't fully understand the language, and just give our all to the Lord. This really has helped me to keep serving the Lord better. I know that if we fully trust in the Lord everything will work out.

I love you all and hope you have a great rest of the week,
Hermana Maikoski
