This week was a really good one. I have found that the days are going by faster and faster. I cannot believe it. I am just trying to enjoy every last minute that I have here.
Anyway we went and helped out some of the people that lost their houses and gave them some clothes because they needed them. We also had intercambios again with our STL (exchanges with Sister Training Leaders). They locked themselves in one of our rooms and they didn´t get out until an hour and a half later. We had to call the bishop and he had to break the door handle, haha. It was really funny. Something else really funny is that we took a random pic with a guy that had my name on his shirt. He was kinda hesitant but I told him I really wanted the pic because it had my name on it haha.
We also found this really cool family Clara, Osvaldo, and Rosana. Rosana is the mom, Clara is 18, and Osvaldo is 9. Clara has been through so many hard things. She has so many talents. She loves to sing, draw, and write. She was bullied when she was in high school and now she is going around to the different schools to tell her story. She told me that she loves helping others. Osvaldo is a Youtuber and he loves all things technology. The missionaries had passed by their house before, but then they moved and lost contact with the church. We are so sure that this is their time! We watched the Restoration with them and then we gave them a Book of Mormon. Clara started reading it immedietaly and said that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is incredible. We are just so excited to keep teaching them!
Some notes from this week that have lifted and inspired me. They are from two talks from the October 2008 conferecne by Elder Holland and President Eyring.
President Eyring said, ¨The more faithful service you give, the more the Lord asks of you... We can expect in our service to have help sent to us at the right time who will see strength in us and lift us up. And we can look forward to being the one sent by the Lord to encourage another.¨
I have felt the weight on my shoulder of trying to become the best that I can and not stop working hard as a missionary and Satan has been working so hard on me, but as I read this quote from President Eyring I was touched and I understood exactly why I was feeling that way. Then I recognized all the people in my life that have been lifting me up at the right time so that I can look forward and encourage others.
Elder Holland said, ¨In times of special need, He sent angels, divine messengers, to bless His children, reassure them that heaven was always very close and that His help was always very near... When we speak of those who are instruments in the hand of God, we are reminded that not all angels are from the other side of the veil. Some of them we walk with and talk with here, now, every day. Some of them reside in our own neighborhoods. Indeed heaven never seems closer than when we see the love of God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word that comes to mind. We may feel we are distanced from God, shut out from heaven, lost, alone in dark and dreary places. Often enough that distress can be of our own making, but even then the Father of us all is watching and assisting. And always there are those angels who come and go all around us, seen and unseen, known and unknown, mortal and immortal. God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face.¨
This reminded me of what Elder Kelley said in my blessing a month ago of how I will have angels round about me and also what my parents said to me when I left. I have felt the strength of the angels surrounding me and my angel companion, Hermana Levy, that has lifted me up when I have most needed it. I am so grateful for all of the angels in my life. Remember to be an angel in someone else´s life and remember that you are never alone. If you need help, turn to your Savior and He will send angels to you in the right and perfect time!
Love these scriptures that go along with these quotes,
Doctrine and Covenants 84 verse 88: ¨And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.¨
Heavenly Father is in every moment and is by our side. His spirit is with us and His angels round about us.
¨35 And now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto you, with power and great glory at the last day, that they are true, and if they are true has the day of miracles ceased?
36 Or have angels ceased to appear unto the children of men? Or has he withheld the power of the Holy Ghost from them? Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved?
37 Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain.¨
If we have faith, we can see miracles and we can realize that there are angels around us. Recognize who are those angels in your life or be one to someone else. Love you all and have a great week,
Pics selfie with Hermana Levy, me in a cow pj that we found, us with a random guy in the street that had a Shelby cobra shirt on, and us treating ourselves last night with a toothpaste mask and feet soaking.
