Hope you enjoyed the wonderful General Conference and were able to receive answers to your questions and peace in your hearts just like I was able to.
This passed week we pretty much spent it in the office, but there were tons of miracles. We were in the institute building and in intercambios. In the office we received a really cool reference. Her name is Angi and she is from Venezuela. She is so ready to hear this gospel and had great questions. We´ll see where it goes from there. Cristina is FINALLY off of work for a full month so she was happy to tell us that she will be baptized this month! Also there was an experience in our intercambios where a lady rejected the Book of Mormon. We URGED her to ready it, but she just didn´t want it. Our hearts were broken, but we still know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God like they talked about in conference. We finally put a baptismal date with Roberto. He has been coming to church and everything, but hadn´t accepted a date.
That same day that Roberto accepted his baptismal date, it was a rough day. I felt like I couldn´t be strong anymore. I was in a REALLY low spot and letting Satan get ahold of my thoughts, but as I looked up on my desk and remembered Cristina´s favorite bible verse, I was remembered of something. In Joshua 1 verse 9 it says, ¨Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.¨
God has commaned us to be strong and not afraid or get discouraged because He is always with us. We need to trust in Him and that He is in EVERY moment of our lives. Elder Rasband said that He has a divine design for us and that is so true!
I was also reading in Alma 8 this week and there were a couple of verses that really touched me. They talk about Alma and what he had to go through. They say,
8 And it came to pass that when Alma had come to the city of Ammonihah he began to preach the word of God unto them.
9 Now Satan had gotten great hold upon the hearts of the people of the city of Ammonihah; therefore they would not hearken unto the words of Alma.
10 Nevertheless Alma labored much in the spirit, wrestling with God in mighty prayer, that he would pour out his Spirit upon the people who were in the city; that he would also grant that he might baptize them unto repentance.
11 Nevertheless, they hardened their hearts, saying unto him: Behold, we know that thou art Alma; and we know that thou art high priest over the church which thou hast established in many parts of the land, according to your tradition; and we are not of thy church, and we do not believe in such foolish traditions.
12 And now we know that because we are not of thy church we know that thou hast no power over us; and thou hast delivered up the judgment-seat unto Nephihah; therefore thou art not the chief judge over us.
13 Now when the people had said this, and withstood all his words, and reviled him, and spit upon him, and caused that he should be cast out of their city, he departed thence and took his journey towards the city which was called Aaron.
14 And it came to pass that while he was journeying thither, being weighed down with sorrow, wading through much tribulation and anguish of soul, because of the wickedness of the people who were in the city of Ammonihah, it came to pass while Alma was thus weighed down with sorrow, behold an angel of the Lord appeared unto him, saying:
15 Blessed art thou, Alma; therefore, lift up thy head and rejoice, for thou hast great cause to rejoice; for thou hast been faithful in keeping the commandments of God from the time which thou receivedst thy first message from him. Behold, I am he that delivered it unto you.
16 And behold, I am sent to command thee that thou return to the city of Ammonihah, and preach again unto the people of the city; yea, preach unto them. Yea, say unto them, except they repent the Lord God will destroy them.
17 For behold, they do study at this time that they may destroy the liberty of thy people, (for thus saith the Lord) which is contrary to the statutes, and judgments, and commandments which he has given unto his people.
18 Now it came to pass that after Alma had received his message from the angel of the Lord he returned speedily to the land of Ammonihah. And he entered the city by another way, yea, by the way which is on the south of the city of Ammonihah.
Alma´s mission wasn´t easy. He was feeling EXACLTY what I was feeling. ¨being weighed down with sorrow, wading through much tribulation and anguish of soul, because of the wickedness of the people.¨ Then an angel shows up to him and tells him that there is much reason to rejoice and that he should go back and preach to those SAME people. Alma could have EASILY not listened to what the angel told him to do because he was scared that he would loose his life or with the firmness that no one would listen to him, but he returned SPEEDILY to the city of Ammonihah. There he received Amulek that was put in his path to help him preach the gospel. He received so many blessings. It makes me think of what we learned in conference that hard is good. Life won´t be easy, but we have to keep going and learning.
I loved the messages that were shared in conference about service, the Book of Mormon, trusting in the Lord, blessing lives of others, Christ being the light, healing, preparing for Christ´s coming, miracles, not getting distracted, and the Family Proclamation. We can really see the importance of all those things. Please go back over all the messages because they are AWESOME!
Love you all and have a great week,
