Sister Bullock

a Baptism and beautiful music

Good work is being done here in Ellicott City. Sister Bullock and I will be staying here another transfer together and I am thrilled.

Marcia is getting baptized on Saturday and her interview is tomorrow. She is so prepared. She keeps the Word of Wisdom better than I do, and she thinks "It's hilarious that God wants me to become a Mormon. Like, really??? a Mormon?!?" haha. She is this beautiful strong independent black woman who has literally been living the law of Chastity and the Word of Wisdom of her own free will and choice for 10 years. SO prepared. She came to another baptism we had in the Ellicott City ward yesterday and it made her really excited for the one she is going to have herself. She said afterward, "This is nothing like the baptism I had in the baptist church. This is all so much more.. meaningful. Everything is so much more meaningful." I love her and I am so excited she has decided to make this promise with God. It has been so fun to teach her.

We had an amazing, hard week, filled with many tender mercies. Our car was gone all week and we were on foot in the hot sun for 90%of the week. It was a struggle. I am not a summer person. But miracles happen everywhere.

Also, Pokemon go has taken over the world. At first, I was really turnt about it but it has actually been a fabulous conversation starter with the 74 people we talked to this week that were playing it. God works in mysterious ways - find someone who is wasting their life on this game and we give them something even more valuable than a Pokemon. Believe it or not:)

Danielle is still doing well. We had a Chastity lesson and APPARENTLY it was super awkward, I didn't feel it. the member and my comp were very taken aback by my frankness with Danielle about all her questions. I guess I'm bad at identifying awkward situations..go figure.

We went to a bible study this week. It was the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me. No, it wasn't a LDS one... it was some interesting baptist offshoot called "The Winners."It was crazy. they were all screaming their prayers and pleading for the Lord to cover them in His blood an mercy and Sister Bullock and I were just staring wide-eyed and trying to process it all. after four or five of these different prayers went on, they just started singing praises. That part was beautiful - they were clapping and, being the only white person in the room beside Sister Bullock, I did my best not to embarrass myself and prove to them that white girl still got rhythm:) It was such a soulful, beautiful sound. The actual Bible study part was really cool too. We talked about my favorite person, Peter, and how his obedience blessed him. We sisters had a lot to say about that, and Everyone in the room was so kind and respectful and even thanked us for giving up our lives to serve the Lord. It was powerful I have never seen a more passionate, loving group of people in my life. It really shows how the Lord brings good things together and there is good in all people.

Regardless of all this, hearing about the tragedy back at home has got me thinking a lot. I wish I knew what to say to my beautiful ward family and especially the Luce family, who are so dear to my heart. I know God is real and He is a loving and POWERFUL Father in Heaven. My favorite scripture tells me how to find such hope:
" Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us."
You are more than a conquerors, Luce family. I love you all. Nothing can separate us from that love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
