This week was pretty exciting! Our friends Ana and Pablo came here from Columbia about a month ago and one day they both decided to come to church. We were introduced to them and they told us they loved it and have already started reading the Book of Mormon. Fast forward a week we taught them the restoration, they told us they already were in 2 Nephi! Fast forward a couple days we taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They both had so many questions but they really loved the part on repentance and remission of sins. That day we invited them to be baptized and they said YES. We were so happy for them they both expressed how they knew this is why they came to the US. They knew they needed the church in their lives. So Ana and Pablo are on Date for June 25th and we are so excited for them both!
We had a lesson with our friend Maria. Maria has been taught by missionaries for at least 10 years. She's read the Book of Mormon more than twice. But she still feels she doesn't have an answer from God. So that has been the struggle while teaching her. But this week we decided to go over the Baptismal questions to help her understand how much she already knows. By the end she basically bore her testimony about every principle of the gospel but still did not feel she should be baptized. We kinda didn't know what to say at that point so the thought came to me to sing "Soy un hijo de Dios". She had a ukulele there and so i told her Maria we can't change your decision but I asked her if it was alright if I could sing for her. Definitely felt wierd doing it but I ended up singing it and at the end I looked up and Maria had tears coming down her face. The spirit was so strong and we know she knew that she was a child of God and was sent here for a reason to live with him again someday. I'm not sure if she will be baptized soon but I know that in that moment the spirit was the biggest testifier that it was true.
A quote I heard this week was "My life is going to be directed how god wants it be as long as I'm willing to pay attention". I have really tried to focus on that this week. I know heavenly father is our guide and he will show us where we need to go and be if we are willing to hear him. I know that he is a loving heavenly father, and I know this is his plan and his work!
