An Easter Miracle

Happy (late) Easter!!

This week was a good week. Definitely had hard days and moments but still an overall good week! We spent alot of time with the Hermanas this week. Hermana Berkabike and Lopez are amazing missionaries and we were able to go on exchanges together. I went to with Hermana Lopez on Tuesday. We did some service at a food bank for a little bit, went to Zupas for lunch, and then headed out to Syracuse to start teaching some lessons. Something I love about Hermana Lopez is how well she is in tune with the spirit. It's a gift that she has and it shows. When we go into lessons it's not just her teaching its the spirit. She was able to connect with one of our friends very well specifically. Her name is Milena. Hermana Mueller and I started teaching her last Transfer and we have continued to do so this Transfer as well. She had a hard life growing up and so there were some aspects of the gospel she didn't agree with. In that lesson with Lopez, she shared an experience that clicked with Milena. She understood because she could relate and it gave Milena hope that things in her life could change. I don't think I've ever felt the spirit so strong in a lesson before. I've watched Milenas heart soften SO MUCH. She was as stubborn as can be and didn't belive in God. Now she is praying about being baptized April 30th! Soooo here's the Easter miracle... after finishing a lesson with our friend Valentina Sunday night we receive a text from Milena that says, "Creo que voy a dar un acto de fe". We asked her what act of faith she wanted to take. She told us she wanted to get baptized on the 30th. I'm not gonna lie I definitely cried happy tears when she texted us that in the car haha. I never thought she would get to this point. But I know this has all been in Heavenly Father's timing. And we are so excited for her!!

We went on mini exchanges another day this week. I went with Hermana Berkabile this time. She is a hard working missionary. Something I love about her is her willingness to listen and show love to every single person she meets. We went to this lady in a trailer park named Pauline. She is the funniest lady I've ever met. We sat and talked for a little bit. She made us little Easter baskets. After talking for a little bit, we told her we had to head out. And right when we were pulling away she said, "Wait do you play the guitar?" Idk where that thought came from in Paulines mind but I told her,"yes I do haha". She screamed, "Wait come play me a song!" And runs inside to get a guitar. I sang her a couple songs, she sang along too sometimes. But at the end she told me it made her entire day.

Over these past couple months I have realized how much more there is to missionary work than just knocking on a door and sharing a scripture. Missionary work is ministering work. Learning how to love people, and serve them, along with bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ into their life. They all work together. And I develop a love for people I never thought I'd love that much.

We had the opportunity to go to the temple on Saturday. The Bountiful temple is closed right now so I got permission from President Johnson to go to the Ogden Temple. I'm so grateful i was able to go. The spirit and peace thats in the temple is needed so often. I can feel a difference in my life as I've gone often compared to times when I don't. I'm grateful for them, they are blessings we need to take advantage more of in our lives.

We had the opportunity to hear from Brad Wilcox on Thursday which was amazing. He's an amazing speaker. But it got me to read and study "His grace is sufficient" by him. I learned so much from that talk, it has changed how I see his atonement and his grace. One quote I loved that he said was, "The miracle of the Atonement is not just that we can live after we die but that we can live more abundantly (see John 10:10). The miracle of the Atonement is not just that we can be cleansed and consoled but that we can be transformed (see Romans 8). Scriptures make it clear that no unclean thing can dwell with God (see Alma 40:26), but, brothers and sisters, no unchanged thing will even want to." I love this quote because if we are changing or trying to let God change us then the atonement is working in our lives. I never really understood fully how the atonement personally applies to me. But I'm realizing how it's saved me when it's so hard and I dont know what I'm doing. It's saved me when I'm doing good and the work is progressing. The atonement is needed every day and I know that's something I'm going to continue to learn everyday of my mission and after.

I hope you all had a great week!
Love you all!
