God IS good!
We've been able to see quite a few members throughout the week. One morning we went to the church to do indexing for service and there were a couple of members there preparing lunch for a funeral they had earlier. We talked to them for a minute and then as people started coming in, people would poke their heads into the family history room to say hi and talk to us for a minute. At one point Bishop and another one of the members popped back in telling us to come get food. We did but we couldn't stay and sit with them because of COVID...darn it..so we had to go back to the family history room to eat. We also got a text last night from a member asking if we wanted to come over for flan and homemade ice cream! So we did and talked for a while with them! It was pretty grand! The members are so super grand and I am grateful for them!
Besides doing index for service, we are now going to LLife twice a week instead of just once! It has only been week one of doing it twice a week but already love it! I seriously love serving there and strengthening the relationships we have with those who serve along with us!
I made biscuits and gravy for the district after district council on Wednesday! So that was pretty fun! Haha
We only had one lesson this week and that was with Brian. We are still discussing what he has read in the Book of Mormon and this past week we talked about prayer and how important it is! It is a good lesson like always!
We made our last batch of amish bread, well it could have kept going but we kept forgetting to make the bread for like 3 weeks... whoops! It turned out good still and we had quite the adventure making it! At one point, I opened the cupboard with the spices but was still facing the other two and all of a sudden Sister Andreasen covers her mouth, her eyes go wide and says, "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!" Sister Ivie and I were so confused until we both looked up, SHE HAD PUT THE MILK INTO THE CUPBOARD!! ππ We were laughing SOOO hard!! Haha! Good thing it had only been in there for a few minutes.
I have had a lot of time to study the past little bit and they have been so good! I have started reading "Saints" again and I forgot how good it is! It is also such a testimony builder that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Jesus Christ's church restored on the earth! Read it everyone!! It is such a great testament of the restoration! In where I am reading right now, the saints are beginning to really get major persecution and Joseph Smith gets a revelation. This revelation is in D&C 98 and it mentions verse 3 in the book, which says, "Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my nameβs glory, saith the Lord." This verse is where I began to realize, the trials we are receiving in each of our lives are growing pains. This is a learning period, one of many more to come! I do know it is in the trials we learn the most because it is during the trials the relationship we have with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are strengthened. And Heavenly Father PROMISES these hard times are for our good!
On Sunday we had our mission-wide devotional and this week we heard from a few sister missionaries who are going home and one who is cleared to go to the mission she was originally assigned to serve. They have such beautiful testimonies and they are such wonderful missionaries! One of the sisters was talking about the name of Christ and with His many names, which one will she take upon herself. What she said was amazing and to sum it all up into what I got from what she said, Jesus Christ has each of those names for a different reason, for a different part of the Atonement! He is 'Prince of Peace' when we are in need of peace, He is 'Savior' and 'Redeemer' when we are in need of forgiveness of sin, He is 'Counsellor' when we are in need of guidance, He is 'Bread of Life' when we feel empty, He is 'Wonderful' when we feel the love He has for us! Go to Him, and take His name upon you, whatever name it is you are in need of now. "Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me...mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me." 3 Nephi 9:14
I hope y'all have a blessed week!
love,
Sister Chappell
