Hey y'all
Okay week 2 of new mission rules about phone calls. I seriously love it.
Last week we had ZONE PDAY. So a ton of missionaries gathered in downtown Tulsa to play soccer. I played soccer for almost 3 hours! I love soccer!! My team played really well, I had a few assists and a goal! Shoutout to dad who coached me all through middle school. You done good.
After that i was wrecked!! Everything hurt so bad!! I tried to play a card game but we only had 1 hour left, i tried to get a game of soccer together but ended up playing football instead. It's not as difficult as I thought. One guy says hike everyone else runs to catch it or block. You're allowed one blitz (charging the ball) everytime you have possession other wise you have to wait 5 Mississippi to attack the quarter back. Sister Mansell came out and played on my team, she's so cute. An elder was asking about blitzing and she answered and was like "do you want me to teach you how to play?" What a savage.

On Wednesday night the owasso elders came to pick up their mattress, they're hilarious. They shoved it in the back seat through the trunk with elder Jones on it. We backed them from their balcony, they rolled down all the windows blasting "nothing but you" by gentri which i guess is now their comp song bc I said each guy sounds exactly like each of them. It was a great end to the night.

We went out to dinner on Friday. I ended up ordering a poke bowl not thinking but its literally raw fish. I saw the fish and thought "why is there watermelon on my salad?" Needless to say I ordered something else... carbs. that had been deep fried... way good.

So this week when we've talked to people or knocked on their doors it has been dramatically noticeable that they're reading our name tags. Sometimes the door will open, their eyes will go straight for the nametags and they just shake their head and close the door. For the second time on my whole mission I felt like I had been slapped when that happened. Because theres two names on my tag. And when they reject us they reject christ. I read alot of talks on "taking upon us the name of christ" to prepare for vernias baptism and i learned so really cool things about that promise. President oaks noted in a talk that we only witness out WILLINGNESS not actually taking his name upon us. The talks that blew my mind were "All must take upon them the name given of the father" and "Taking upon us the name of Jesus Christ"

"Willingness to take upon us the name of Jesus Christ can therefore be understood as willingness to take upon us the authority of Jesus Christ. According to this meaning, by partaking of the sacrament we witness our willingness to participate in the sacred ordinances of the temple and to receive the highest blessings available through the name and by the authority of the Savior when he chooses to confer them upon us." -Dallin H. Oaks

By taking upon ourselves the name of Christ, we commit to take His teachings, His characteristics, and ultimately His love deep into our beings so that they become part of who we are. We accept Him as our Savior and continually embrace His teachings as the guide for our lives. In every meaningful decision we make, we can take His gospel to be true and obediently live it with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength. We take upon us the responsibilities of a true disciple, we advocate His cause.  (semi quotes from Elder Paul B. Pieper)
WE ARE ALL WITNESSES OF JESUS CHRIST!! you don't have to have a name tag to do so! i LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!
LOVE YOU ALL SO SO SO SO MUCH!!love sister maloney
