I love your Mom

Dear Hermana Angell
I am thankful for the priesthood leaders that are called by God and serve the Church throughout the world. I went to the most wonderful Priesthood leadership training last night that I have ever attended in my life. Elder Nash from the Qrm of the 70 is visiting for Stk Conference. He is a masterful teacher. He also spoke today at Stake Conference. Three questions came up a lot today in conference that we were counseled to ask ourselves daily:
1 - What would you have me do today Lord?
2- Who should I serve today?
3 - What should I change today?
I am sure as a missionary that you think about these questions daily in some way.
Elder Nash said he offered one piece of advice to his Son before he went on his mission that I want to now pass along to you. Evermore so then the past 11 months, I suggest you move forward to serve and "don't hold anything back"...."Offer everything you have to the Lord as you serve the rest of your mission.". Not that you have not been doing that up to this point, but a good reminder to "hold nothing back". I thought that was good council.
A few other profound things I learned today are:
- The Lord died for us so we can become something. That is a forward looking and motivating event. We need to become LIKE him.
- The temples are so beautiful. Temples are merely a "jewel box". Don't mistake the jewel box for the real jewel which is the ordinances.

Elder Nash referenced 3 Nephi 18:
24 Therefore, hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up—that which ye have seen me do. Behold ye see that I have prayed unto the Father, and ye all have witnessed.
25 And ye see that I have commanded that none of you should go away, but rather have commanded that ye should come unto me, that ye might feel and see; even so shall ye do unto the world; and whosoever breaketh this commandment suffereth himself to be led into temptation.
You are in a great position as a missionary to hold up your light and shine it so all around you can see it. You are not only beautiful inside and out, you are filled with the greatest gift we all can have on earth to help shine our light and that is the holy ghost. We were taught today if we don't hold our light up, and come closer unto the Lord (I believe that is progressive conversion) we will be led away, tempted and fail. Read 25 closely and you will see that this is true.
I am anxious to hear what your next assignment will be. Who your new companion and area will be. The Lord knows you and will bless you in your next experience. Don't hold anything back! Show those darkies the light of the gospel by shining your light on the doctrines of our Heavenly Father's plan. I was thinking today that I wonder what the future holds for you regarding the Spanish lanquage. Maybe you will use it in life beyond your mission in a work and gospel setting. I am impressed with your Love of the spanish people, language.
This week has gone well. A lot of good stuff happened at work. Mom and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. I bought her some pretty dangling peril ear rings. We went to Matao's and had Italian food and I gave her the ear rings at dinner. She looks real beautiful in them. I love your Mom so much and we have had a great 25 years together. The Lord has truly blessed us with a great and righteous posterity starting with you. I walked up to Elder Nash and said "I want to introduce you to my son Truman Angell, does that name sound familiar?" He said yes, do You Truman want to be an architect? Truman said no. I told him he was preparing to serve a mission. Elder Nash put his hands on his shoulder, gave him a little squeeze and said "you are from royal linage son".
Last night Mom and I went to my annual company Christmas party for work. We sat by my boss Gary and Jeff and his wife Lynn. Mom and I are trying to make new friends and do things with new people. We went to dinner Friday night with Jeff and his wife and then we went to see the new 007 James Bond movie. It was a great relaxing evening. I am going to have them over for playing cards.
Also, I approached the parents of Brooklynn, the young women from Muncie Truman is texting, and ask her dad if they would like to plan a family temple baptism trip with us on Dec 30th. He said they would. If you recall, Natasha also knows one of their daughters. If they are able, we will do a baptism session and then do something else like go bowling or play games. I will let you know how it goes. Brooklynn impresses me greatly what I hear about her. I believe she will be Truman's first date, not Sierra. TJ text's her a bit. It will be fun to watch them date. She is in charge of the new year's eve dance for your stake so I know what we are doing that night!
I can't wait to hear how you transfer went. I will put this letter in the mail so you have it to read again once I know your address.
Be strong and let your light shine Hermana Angell to your investigators and your new companion.
Love ya,
