Hey Y'all!!

For some reason I feel like this week has been a long one... it feels like a whole months gone by in just these last 7 days. Goes to show there is a lot that goes down in one week, and then when I have to sit down and write about it, I can't remember a single thing hahaha. Anyways, it's been another blessed week here in Mount Vernon and I am constantly reminded how aware Heavenly Father is of me and that he hears my prayers.

On Thursday, for our District Meeting we got to combine with another district and have a really awesome lesson. One of the members from the stake did an activity with us to help us grow closer to our Savior. In this lesson, he took away our sight. All of us were blindfolded and had to rely on our other senses. We were given objects that reminded us of the Savior and all the things he had to go through in his life. There was music in the background describing the saviors life. Then we listened to a talk by Elder Holland, (he's so awesome) in his talk he linked missionary work with the atonement. Even when we feel like we are walking blind, we can have faith and, "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." (Deuteronomy 31:6) This lesson reminded me how life won't always be easy. It wasn't for Jesus Christ. But even through the hardships of life, he still managed to have so much joy. He was still able to love everyone with all his heart. How can we always have that joy that Christ has, even on the hard days? This question reminded me of a conference talk I read recently by President Nelson. He shared a story about, "A dear colleague recently told me of his past two decades of heavy trials. He said, “I have learned to suffer with joy. My suffering was swallowed up in the joy of Christ.” Because of Jesus Christ and His atonement we can have joy, we can have peace in the toughest of times. President Nelson said, "Heed these words of the Psalmist: “I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. … In [His] presence is fulness of joy.” Even when you are walking through life without a clue in the world where you are going, put the Lord first always and you will find joy. The faithful will be promised with everlasting joy, which is far better than any worldly joy.

I have never laughed so much in one week. I think I'm getting into that stage of my mission where I'm starting to understand missionary humor and it gets me good. But I think my favorite thing to watch is how awkward some of the older missionaries are, which I shouldn't laugh at them because karma will come back around and before I know it I'll be the one being laughed at😂 but anyways there's an Elder here that always talks about my clothes which is really funny to me because he's a boy. But my favorite thing he said on Thursday was, "If I were a sister, I would buy your clothes." Too bad he ain't a sister, I could be making some good dough out here hahah just kidding.

At church on Sunday, we were having a lesson on who our Heavenly Father is and how much he loves us. One person was talking about his children and how much he loves his son. He knows how much his son loves Spiderman and he wants to give him a Spiderman toy when he is good. He can't reward him when he does something bad, only when he does something good. He related this back to our father in heaven. Heavenly Father loves us so much and always wants to send us blessings, but he can only do that when we are doing what is right to receive those blessings. I loved this because it made me want to have a stronger desire to do the things I am suppose to, with a different motivation. I'll do the things God wants me to because I love him, and I know how much he loves me and he wants to send me blessings, so I need to stop doing things that stand in the way of allowing God to send me those blessings.

Ooh I realized why this week has felt like an eternity. I had to give a talk on Sunday, and I was stressed about it all week!! I am so grateful I did have the opportunity to give this talk on how to strengthen our testimonies, because I learned a lot and am thankful for that time I had to study more about a testimony. Now I am excited to apply the things I learned:) if Y'all want some good tips on how to strengthen your testimony, shoot me an email😘

Love,
Sister Lauren Ashlee Ludwig😊
