Oh man I don't even know where to begin... This week has been very eventful. It's been one of those weeks that I will probably remember forever. So much has happened hahah. I will just start at the beginning of the week. So Monday night after our awesome pday ended we had an appointment with Kristy. For some weird reason I just knew the appointment was going to fall through and so I was thinking of what we could do. Sure enough the appointment fell through, Kristy has a crazy work schedule and fell asleep while she was waiting for us. Anyways I had the strong urge to go visit one of our old investigators Sally (the cat lady) to check up on her and see how she was doing. We headed over there and it was really cool because as we were walking up to Sally's house, one of her neighbors was outside. He walked right up to us and said "I know who you guys are. You are the Mormon missionaries!" We asked him if he had ever met with missionaries before and he said "oh yes, all the time, but that was way back in the 80s. They were two girls just like you, but they disappeared on me." Then Sally walked out of her house because she saw us and we come to find out that this guy we are talking to is her brother Steve. Our conversation with Steve was interrupted, and while we were visiting with Sally inside we saw through the window that Steve had brought three chairs and was waiting outside. Haha he knew the drill. Anyways, after we were done talking with Sally we went over and started talking to Steve more. We asked him if he had ever read the Book of Mormon? His response was awesome, he said, "yes that book is inspired of God!" We had a great lesson with Steve and found out he's been to church before and loves it. I am so beyond grateful for the spirit and being able to have the spirit guide us because if it wasn't for the spirit suggesting to me to go see Sally, we most likely would never have met Steve. I'm excited to see where things go with him!
Also, we got a text from one of our investigators this week that had me smiling for days. Jess texted us and asked what it would take for her to get to the temple. We told her the things we are working with her on now, she would have to stop doing in order to be baptized and then after a year of being a member of the church she could attend the temple. She then said okay consider it done! This was the most exciting news because we have been working with Jessica for a while now and it's so awesome to see her finally get to where she wants to be. They are a part member family, and my love for them has grown so much, they really mean so much to me. I can't wait for them and all the amazing things that are a head for them. It's going to be a great day to see their family getting sealed in the temple together.
Alright here is my scripture of the week. Alma 42:23 says, "But God ceaseth not to be God, and mercy claimeth the penitent, and mercy cometh because of the atonement; and the atonement bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead; and the resurrection of the dead bringeth back men into the presence of God; and thus they are restored into his presence, to be judged according to their works, according to the law and justice." We have been given the gift of the atonement. We will be judged with how we used this gift that was given to us. That is why we have to understand the atonement, in order to know how to use it in our lives. If there was no atonement, there would be no hope for us all. There would be no way for us to return to our Father's presence because we can never be perfect. We will always fall short. And because our Father in Heaven loves us so much, and wants us so desperately to return to live with Him, and have eternal life He provided us with the greatest gift of all. He sent His son to the earth to perform the greatest act of love. He preformed the atonement by taking upon Himself all the sins of the world, so we can repent of our faults and be able to become clean again so we can return to live with God again. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is amazing. It allows us to change and become our best self. It offers us so much more than I even imagined and I am grateful to be able to learn more.
President Boyd K. Packer stated, "there is no habit, no addiction, no rebellion, no transgression, no apostasy, no crime exempted from the promise of complete forgiveness. That is the promise of the atonement of Christ.” (2 Nephi 31:19) The Lord is always there with His hands extended towards us.
Okay here is where the crazy comes in. For this whole week, Sister Draper has been getting these bites all over. We suspected bed bugs but we wanted to make sure it was before freaking out. Welp it turns out we did have bed bugs... so from Thursday until now we have been cleaning and spraying and washing everything from morning until night. I am really regretting having so many clothes... bed bugs are the worst!!
ALSO! The strangest thing also happened. We got a random text from a random number saying "Ludwig?" I replied saying "Hey this is Sister Ludwig, who's this?" We talk to lots of people and I forgot all the people we meet sometimes, so I had no idea who this person even was. The number that texted us was a guy named Daniel and somehow he got our number not really sure how. As a missionary I never thought I would get asked out on a date but yeah Daniel asked if I wanted to grab dinner with him hahaha that was a fun text to reply to...
Alright so we got transfer news this week!! I am leaving Brookside and going to Mount Vernon! It's near Evansville in Indiana. It's the farthest area in our mission so everyone calls it outer darkness. I'm pretty much being banished hahah. But my new Comp is Sister Bradshaw! I've met her before at zone conferences, she's so cool and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to serve with her! Not going to lie this transfer news has been rough for me. I have really gotten close to a lot of the people here. I've found a second home out here and it will be really tough leaving, but I am excited for the new adventures, people, and experiences I am going to have in Mount Vernon!
I hope everyone has a great rest of their weeks! This is for Christopher... Try not. Do or do not:)
