Sister Meghan Draper

Hey Y'all!!

Happy Derby!! I hope no one lost too much money this weekend :) haha just kidding. It rained for like 2 days straight here. I missed the sun haha. I'm definitely a Mesa girl.

I read a quote by Elder Richard G. Scott that I liked a lot. He said, "His Son has made you freeβ€”not from the consequences of your acts, but free to make choices." Our choices do affect us more than we know. If there is something that is holding you back from having a stronger relationship with Heavenly Father, simply fix it.

Change has to happen now. It can't come tomorrow, or next week, or next year. It has to start in this very moment. Continuing to put things off increases your chances of never getting anything done. Elder Quentin L. Cook in this last General Conference talked about the 10,000 hour rule. One of these research experts asserts β€œthat ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expertβ€”in anything.” When we pass on from this life, our hearts, minds, and actions will be no different as they are now. In 2 Nephi 9:16 it says, "And assuredly, as the Lord liveth, for the Lord God hath spoken it, and it is his eternal word, which cannot pass away, that they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they who are filthy shall be filthy still;..." If you crave chocolate right now, you'll probably still crave chocolate in heaven. If you are quick to respond with anger and raise your voice, you'll most likely be yelling in heaven. If you don't have a desire to know God, it will be even harder to know Him in heaven. Nothing will change until you make a change. Apply the 10,000 hour rule. Start now. Think about one thing you want to change. One thing you could be better at. In 10,000 hours, I promise you will be different. It truly gives me so much hope to know that I don't have to be perfect today. God's plan is perfectly planned for us. He is patient and has given me 10,000 hours or 416 days to try and change my ways.

So my mama sent me a package this week, and she sent me my most favorite candy ever. Praise the hi chews!! Anyways, as we were waiting on a member to pick us up for stake conference on Sunday I decided why not snack on these delicious candies. Bad idea. Somehow I ended up getting the hi chew stuck in my throat and I was choking. Sister Draper saved my life literally by pounding on my back, and got the hi chew out of my throat hahaha it was a very traumatic experience for both of usπŸ˜‚ the whole rest of the day my voice was very raspy. Good times. Thank you mama for trying to kill me! Haha just kidding if I were to die that's how I would like to go, choking on a hi chew :)

Since Therese's baptism, I have been thinking more and more about the Holy Ghost. I have been thinking about its role in our everday lives. The other day as I was reading over the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Preach My Gospel, it hit me that the Holy Ghost will be the one to really help Therese learn all there is to know about the gospel. Now that she has the gift of the Holy Ghost as her constant companion, she can be able to understand scriptures better, recieve promptings, and be comforted. The Holy Ghost is a great package deal! When we feel the Holy Ghost in our lives, we are able to see a little "foretaste of eternal joy." I realized, the Holy Ghost is also teaching me all I know and will continue to learn about the gospel. The power from the Holy Ghost is allowing me to first learn and then teach the gospel. Everything revolves around the Holy Ghost. That's when we see changes, that's when we see miracles happening. What a privilege it is to be a missionary and allow the Holy Ghost to work through me to bring about amazing things.

Anyways, we are going to the Slugger Museum, Churchill Downs, and the Walking Bridge today for p day! I'll have lots of cool pictures for Y'all next week!
