What an exciting week and 2 days it's been! There's so much that has happened... for one we are all moved into our apartment. It was a long 4 day move, but we survived and we now have AC in our apartment so life is golden. Also, we had to change our pday to today (Wednesday) because it is Sister Draper's 6 month mark and we get to go to the temple!
So this weekend was thunder over Louisville! It's the kick off to derby week. All the missionaries were allowed to attend thunder if we were within 40 miles, and we luckily were. We got to go with some members and the elders in our ward it was a blast! I've never seen a firework show like this one. All other firework shows are pretty much ruined for me now because nothing will trump thunder over Louisville. I'm definitely coming back again to see it!
Okay so the most exciting news ever!!! Therese is getting baptized this Saturday!! I am so excited for therese and so beyond proud of her. She has come such a long way and I have truly seen how the gospel can change a person's life and make it so much better. Therese is one of a kind and I feel so lucky to have met her. She's changed my life is so many ways. We just got the program done last night, it's going to be the best day ever :))
As I was reading about the Plan of Salvation, I came to realize our earthly lives are meant to be challenging. Hard times make us stronger. These hard things we all experience prepare us for the battles of the world. However, because our Heavenly Father loves us and knows we will have battles, He has given us weapons to conquer our trials. We actually have weapons to fight off Satan. We have LOVE. We have KINDNESS. We have TRUTH. We have GUIDANCE. We have ANSWERS. We have the WORD OF GOD. We have so many things to draw us to God and fight off Satan. We are God's warriors armed with righteousness, we are prepared for all battles!!
God has given us His son to be the perfect demonstrater of the do's and don'ts for finding lasting happiness. What an amazing blessing. God truly loves us so much and only wants the best for us. That's why He sent us here to gain bodies and have different experiences in order to become like Him and have all the blessings of eternal life with our families. I understand why the Plan of Salvation is actually the Plan for ETERNAL Happiness. So in the face of struggle, remember the Lord our Redeemer. Two men can do anything as long as one of them is the Lord.
I know God has a plan for each and every one of us. He has different tasks, different bumps in the road, different rewards for every single one of us. He knows us personally. I know He knows me and I know He loves me. I know Jesus Christ is at the head of this church. I know God has called Thomas S. Monson as our living prophet to warn us and encourage us for the things the Lord would want us to know to better our lives while we are here on earth. Our prophet is our study guide for the big test. Use the prophets words and guidance to ace the test!
Isaiah and his imagery is awesome! I was also reading in 1 Nephi 20 and I got so much out of it. We will all experience the furnace of afflictions. (1 Nephi 20:10) This sounds pretty scary right? But think about the process metal has to go through. Intense heat refines metal and removes impurities. For ourselves hard times can refine and purify us. Therefore, our afflictions or trials allow the Lord to refine us and help us become who God desires of us. The way that the Lord brings you may not be the most glorious road but it is the best destination.
The humidity is about to hit here and I don't know if I will survive hahah just kidding I'll be fine, but it's going to be one long, wet summer! I can't believe I will actually miss the dry heat. Y'all are lucky. Anyways, have the best week... as President Brough says "God bless it!" 😊
