It’s a great day to be a missionary in the Philippines

Kamusta my people!

What a great day it is to be a missionary in the Philippines! I think I have gotten over the culture shock, and am finally realizing that I live in this little peace of Heaven on Earth, yes, even in the city it is heavenly.

The people sure live up to their rumors. They are so happy and persistent. It is funny that now in my mind if I walk into a house and it has a basic, cheap flooring, covering the ground, it is a way nice home and the family has a little money. Haha. All the houses are tiny, cement floors, tin roofs. The people are so happy though. There is something about living a simple life that provides a kind of simple happiness. The Philippine people love to laugh. About everything, even the most silly things, they get amused easily, but struggle to get sarcasm. I am not very funny here, which is the weirdest sensation ever. I have always been funny! At least I live with one other American who thinks I'm funny.

Being a missionary is hard work. Yes, physically, we walk a lot. But mostly mentally and emotionally. It is a roller coaster lifestyle. Sometimes it is difficult to be satisfied with a day when none of your teaching appointments fell through, or you have no new investigators. I have learned though that Heavenly Father just wants our best everyday, and some days, weeks and years are harder than others. But I have found peace in prayer and the scriptures. Espesially John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Kaya nato! (We can do it!)

I know we have a Heavenly Father who knows and loves us personally! this gospel is so true and amazing!!!!

Much love,

Sister Ludvigson.

1- score! they have my favorite! I am a happy missionary
