I know my mother sent out an email last week kind of about everything that was going on with me, but I just wanted to give y'all an update and let you know what was going on from my end.
A couple weeks ago I started noticing a change in my physical well being, but didn't really think much of it. I was drinking at least a gallon of water a day but was still thirsty. I was tiring really quickly, and was feeling really faint. Thursday I started to get a headache that got progressively worse, Friday I almost passed out a few times, Saturday I was in bed all day because my head was hurting so bad and feeling really nauseous. I really thought I was just sick with a virus, but as I was talking with some people it was suggested that I go and see a physician to check everything out. While I was at church on Sunday, I talked to one of the members to get some advice on which physician to go see and afterwards went home to lay in bed. She talked to one of the doctors in our ward and he suggested I go into the hospital and get my blood checked. I ended up going in to the emergency room around 3 pm on Sunday and a few hours later they came in and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Because I had been sick for so long, my body had started attacking itself and I am truly blessed that they caught it before I went into a diabetic coma. I spent the next three days in the hospital hooked up to IVs and being a human pin cushion haha. I had to come home to figure out how to live this new lifestyle and stabilize my numbers.
I had an appointment with the Endocrinologist today and he said my numbers are looking really good, and that everything is going well. Timing on healing/stabilization is still up in the air because nothing is really concrete at this point, and every case is different.
I'm not sure what Heavenly Father's plan for me is at this point, but I am moving forward with faith and hoping to return to missionary service as soon as possible. I am so blessed to have had the love and support that I did from the members, doctors, and missionaries there in Rapid City. I know that we are each given trials to help us learn and grow, to progress to become more like our Savior and our Father in heaven. Thank you all so much for the prayers that were/are offered on my behalf because they truly were answered and miracles have occurred because of those prayers.
I love you all and will keep you updated on this new part of my journey! If you'd like to write still, my email will be firstname.lastname@example.org and my home address is 17837 E Cherry Hills Pl. Queen Creek, AZ 85142
