Good Morning!

Hiawatha
Sorry I was MIA last week, I got to go on the Hiawatha biking trail. It's on the border of Idaho and Montana and it's beautiful! It's a 13-20 mile trail (we had a few different readings so we don't know exactly how long) and you get to go over train trestles and through tunnels and it's all downhill. It's a very slight downhill though so you don't notice very much and you have to pedal all the way. It was super fun. All of the missionaries that got to go are leaving this winter and so I got to be companions with Sister Knudsen for the day while our companions hung out together.

Spanish Party
Last week, Sister Hochstetler and I met a guy named Ray that spoke a little bit of English, but mostly Spanish, and so we told him that we would come back the next Saturday with some missionaries that spoke Spanish. We came back and Ray wasn't there, but there were some other people there from Honduras and Guatemala. We talked to them for a little bit, and then luckily the hermanas came and were able to speak in Spanish with them. They were super nice though and we all got delicious barbecue street tacos. They also told us to come back the next week cause they always have a party that night, so that makes the second Latin American party that I've been invited to on my mission. You never know what funny things you'll get yourself into on a mission.

Service
This week was chock full of service which I loved. We got to help at the library again which is one of my favorite activities, and we also got to help at the garden for the community center, which is Sister Hochstetler's favorite. On Tuesday when we helped at the garden though, it started pouring in the middle of being there and so we got soaked. It was pretty funny looking. We also got to help stack wood this week and help one of the ladies in our ward move. We almost got to help another lady move, but then she got busy and so we couldn't. Hopefully this week though!

Food
I haven't done a food update in a while so here we go. We had a ward potluck a few Sundays ago, and usually I like to bring something. Well, we didn't have enough chocolate or sweetened condensed milk to make the easy fudge recipe I found, so we made sweetened condensed milk and "chocolate" and then made the fudge. It turned out tasting fine, but the sugar didn't dissolve when we made the chocolate so it was super grainy. We can't take grainy fudge, so then we attempt to make cookies. It was a new recipe though and we didn't have quite enough flour so we made them and they turned out okay but they were a bit crumbly and kind of tasted like baking soda. So we added more brown sugar and just threw the rest of the dough in to make cookie bars. Me, being the perfectionist I am, decided that we would try and make one more thing in hopes that it would work and we could take it. Well, I decided to make custard. Have I ever made custard before? No. Surprisingly enough it turned out really good, but it wasn't done until after the potluck started, so we didn't bring anything. Next time though!

Thank you for all of your love and support and prayers! I love and miss you all ❤

Love, Sister Karlee Killen
