Transfers came. I spent Monday in meetings and traveling in the ferry. That's right! I am on the beautiful island of COZUMEL! And I'm a Sister Training Leader so I have 6 companionships under my watch and i get to do exchanges every week and we have to be the example. But we are going to baptize every week because that is what we're here to do. My new companion is Hermana Santiago from Tijuana but she grew up in Hidalgo. She is super sweet and dedicated and we get along really well. The weather is a lot more pleasant here on the island, but still hot. But at least there is always a breeze.
For my birthday I ate a lot of cake. Nereda bought us cake. The Garcia Medrano Family bought me a carrot and pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting :), and Dorian made me a spice cake with peaches, and the DaSilvas ordered a tres leches cake from the hotel which they are in charge of and made me do "la mordida" (See fotos I already sent with cake all over my face thanks to Brother DaSilva and Hermana Guzman.
Saturday in Cancun we had a baptism. It was for a child, so we thought it was guaranteed and that everything would go well. What we didn't count on was how hard Satan works to keep us from bringing souls to the waters of baptism. At 5:30 in the morning we received a call from the Grandmother that the parents of the child were fighting and wanted to postpone or cancel the baptism. We told her pray and wait and see what happened. We prayed all morning and went to see the family at 11. The baptism was scheduled for 1pm. Everything had calmed down, but the mom had gone to work because she thought we had postponed the baptism for the evening. Miraculously she was able to leave work and come to the baptism. She has been inactive, but she felt the Spirit in the baptism and decided to skip work to come to the confirmation as well. I have a lot of hope that she will reactivate with the baptism of her son.
The biggest thing on my mind right now is my new area and new assignment. I absolutely love Hermana Santiago and am learning a lot from her and from my assignment. I can already tell I am going to love my area. I am incredibly content and my dedication has been renovated with the leadership meeting we had. We talked a lot about how ever since President Monson said that the work is of missionaries and members, if we try to do it on our own, we are bound to fail. So we are working on bringing up our lessons with member present. That is the key to baptizing and retention. I am a little overwhelmed to be Hermana Capacitadora because of the extra responsibilities but it is going to help me fine tune my obedience and diligence. That is what callings are for, right? Thank you for the birthday wishes and for all the support I get from all of you! I love you so very much! Oh and one last note. If you want to send me packages, make sure you always do it through DHL. Other sources are unreliable.
