I hope this letter finds you all in good health and high spirits.
We are now in week 5 of the MTC and things are really picking up
speed. Most of the missionaries in my district have their
reassignments and plane tickets. Our teachers said on Monday that
"English does not exist" and are pushing us to do everything in
Spanish. This is wonderful because I love to use what I have been
learning, but it is still difficult with my limited vocabulary. My
companion Hermana Hatfield took two years of Spanish in High School,
and has been so patient with me reviewing the grammar after class and
answering my questions.
My companion and I have grown so much in this past week, I feel like
we have really hit our groove as a companionship. We have two
interested people we are teaching Maryssa and Enrique (our two
teachers in disguise) who are learning very quickly! We have learned
how to better plan our lessons and the transitions between the two of
us teaching have become smoother as we have practiced.
We have also had lots of opportunities to meet (via zoom) people from
Mexico who volunteer at the MTC. At first we were both very nervous
because their Spanish was very fast and much of what they were saying
flew over my head. Now that we have been doing this for a couple
weeks, our confidence and understanding has grown.
I know that this is a blessing from Heavenly Father in response to my
prayers. I know like Nephi that when the Lord gives us a calling or
commandment, He will prepare a way for us to accomplish His work. I
have a testimony of the Gift of Tongues, and the power of prayer. Our
Heavenly Father loves each and everyone of us and is excited to hear
from us and help us. I have experienced this in my life, and know
that you can too as you reach out to Him in prayer.
I love you all and hope you have a great week!
