Hello friends and family!
This week was pretty crazy. On Saturday we got transfer calls and it was so nerve-racking! A lot of things changed in our mission. We had 16 missionaries finish their missions and go home this transfer, and only four came in. So they ended up having to close a couple areas (like John Day, Oregon), and they combined a bunch of areas.... including McCall :( Good news: me and Sister Olson are still companions and we get to stay up here in McCall! :) Sad news: the other two sisters we live with are no longer in McCall. Sister Longhurst completed her mission and she is going home, and Sister Sorenson got transferred to Middleton. It was so sad to say goodbye to them, it's weird to be in our house alone now! So that means me and Sister Olson take over their area now as well as ours. We are now over both wards in McCall, New Meadows, Riggins, Donnelly, and Cascade. We have so much work to do and lots of people to teach and visit. I am looking forward to it :)
We have had a ton of snow this week. On Sunday it snowed three feet! It was a mini blizzard! While we were at church, a tree fell on the power line and knocked out the power in town for a few hours. But it's all good now! On Saturday we got to go to Lilly's baptism, she is 17 and she's awesome!! The other sisters were teaching her so it was their baptism, but now we get to teach her the new member lessons since our areas are combined. I am excited! She wants to serve a mission too.
We did a lot of service for members of the ward and non-members this week. I shoveled snow for my first time ever, I loved it! We also got to decorate the town's ice rink for Christmas and that was really fun! It was really neat to reflect on all of the service that Christ did, especially since it is the Christmas season. Jesus Christ is truly the ultimate example of service and sacrifice, and I am so grateful to be a representative of Him. Being a missionary is the best :)
We had another lesson with the Spanish family we are teaching and they are doing great. Even though someone has to translate everything for us, the spirit is there and it is powerful. We have another investigator named Mariah we have taught a couple lessons to. Her husband is a member but he doesn't come to church anymore. She is really interested and she seems really open to the gospel, it is awesome! We are teaching her again on Thursday and hopefully asking her to be baptized :) I'll let you know how that goes next week!
Have a great week! Let me know if there's anything I can do for you!
Love, Sister Lyman
