Hermana Emma Carver

Hola otra vez es mi

Just a little note, I wrote this weeks letter on the 15th but I was late getting it to my mom so it might be a few days behind. Also, I don't know when my next email will be because I'll be flying to California next Tuesday and my P-day will change. I’ll keep everyone updated as soon as I get back to the United States and get settled into my new place.

I had an opportunity to do a service activity with my companion for the boys in my district. We gave them treats with notes on them for personal motivation. I have also started running a lot more with my companion in the morning. I played spikeball, volleyball, and basketball with my district. Apparently I can serve the ball over the net now “Over Hand” ! But I still have to be a little closer to hit it over…( short girl problems haha) Also apparently I'm also a beast at speed/lightning and kept getting the elders out which felt amazing! Made my day even better when I would get some elders out like Elder Dunn and Elder Ensign. I get so competitive sometimes it's a problem honestly and need to remind myself to stop yelling and trash talking so much. Elder Namulauti's laugh is still in my head whenever me or Hermana Carver would get out of the game. Being a missionary is hard sometimes….

Me and my companion attacked my roommates with axe body spray in their room which was hilarious. They had to let their room air out for a couple hours to get the smell out. They tried to do the same with us, but ended up leaving our door dripping wet with body spray and also kinda stole my phone for payback and locked themselves in the bathroom while we waited by the door to get my phone back aha. Me and my companion also got locked out of our apartment because we forgot our card key to get in so we waited till our other roommates came back from class. We.. I mean "I" have been forgetting alot, I may have forgotten my name tag 3 times that day and now I carry three name tags with me in my bag so I don't get in trouble…. And also to not be made fun of …

Anyways we have been seeing alot of fireworks because they are celebrating Mexican independence day on the 15th but we are celebrating it here in CCM on the 16th so that's really fun to look forward to. Also I got a package from my parents and it was a cute little pinata with Mexican candy for Mexico independence day which was really cool. The Mexican candy was not my favorite, mainly just spicy or something with chili rather than sweet. So I gave it to my roommates.. sorry I'm not ready to eat spicy foods just yet .. I’m still white at heart. However I did like the De La Rosa candy, they tasted like Reese's peanut butter cups!

There's a Spanish exam called the EL that's coming up on Saturday that gives us a score out of 10 to see how well our Spanish is. They want most missionaries to get 4 but knowing me… I'll probably get a lower score … but maybe I'll get higher if I actually sit down and study and speak Spanish more. They test you on responding to questions and repeating what they said in Spanish and it's like an hour long test! I'll be praying for the gift of tongues 24/7 now so hopefully God can grant me a 5 on the test ahah.

Spiritual thought:
I went to the Mexico temple again today but this time I got to do sealings for the dead. I got to be a child and it was the coolest experience ever! I got so emotional because the spirit was so strong in that room that I tried so hard to hold back tears. I realized how special and important it is that I just can't wait to be able to do that with my children or husband in the near future. We also did an endowment session again which was all in spanish. Also I learned that I need to see people in God's eyes rather than my own and judge them how the Savior would. Which is basically love everyone and care for them like Jesus did. The spirit also is so powerful when it comes to promptings and I learned to follow them so I won't regret it when I don't. A scripture I want to share is:
Ether 12:4
"Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God."

"Pato tanto" - Dumb duck but it's slang for silly goose
"I hate white people" - Our morning teacher in our class…. I think he's starting to like us
Elder Mickelson- "I'm trying to get the mosquitos" - proceeds to just hit everything with his shoes
"Come on vamanos, everybody let's go"- if you don't know that quote you had no childhood, literally sing that song here all the time
"Dos" - my favorite word when my brain starts to freak out
Elder Dunn- " This… this is just hermana Larsen, that's it" him introducing me to his friend while he hypes everyone else up
"Never been so happy to listen to fsy music in my life"- us being song deprived and finding any song we can to listen to
"Hey Malissa" - everyone thinks I look like a Melissa
"Callate por favor" - shut up… please, in a nice way
