So there's really only one big highlight I really wanted to write about this week. We have a new investigator, Louie!
We were out tracting on Wednesday in a little apartment complex, and not a single person opened the door. So we finally headed back to our car, but on the way we met Louie. He was just out sitting on his porch and said hi, so we talked to him for a while, and he agreed to take the lessons!
He grew up in Brooklyn, and his family is all catholic. He has a super cool Brooklyn accent and he's a UPS driver but a rapper on the side. He's a pretty cool guy! He's about 50 years old and doesn't have a wife or kids or anything, but he has recently realized that that is something important to him in his life. He is very close to his sister's kids who live nearby. We taught him the Restoration there on his porch and he just kept saying every few sentences, "heck yeah!!" Haha he's a character but it was so much fun to meet him.
We set up a return appointment Sunday night and brought Sis Peach from our ward with us. It was a great lesson on the Book of Mormon! They are both talkers, so it went a little long, but he not only promised to read the Book of Mormon everyday, he told us he recognized the Spirit in the room and he agreed to a soft baptismal invite. We can't wait to keep teaching him!!
Sometimes I'm surprised when someone just seems to fall from the sky who wants to learn about the gospel, but then I remember that God is constantly teaching and preparing His children, that He loves each of us, and He truly is "mindful of every people." (Alma 26:37)
I know it was short but that's all I have time for today!! I promise more next week!
Mucho love and aloha,
