Week 68: "Finally Free" -Niall Horan
Big Plates:
Okay, so many things to talk about today!
This week was transfers! I'm staying in Ann Arbor but I got a new companion, her name is Sister Davies! She is super cool and we're excited for the work we'll do this transfer! ALSO, craziest thing, we roll up to transfers and NO ONE is wearing a mask! Whaaaaaat???? It was crazy so we get out of our car and President is all like we're outside, we're all vaccinated, take those masks off! It was amazing and kind of surreal lol! But the excitement doesn't stop there!!
The progress that's being made here in the Mitten is insane! We just got the announcements that we are now able to meet people in person, IN THEIR HOMES, and if they're comfortable with it, we can take off our masks! ALSO, we can attend ward activities now if our friends are going! AND we can eat in members' homes! AND we are having in person zone conference and MLC and we don't have to wear masks to district council! Kind of exciting!! It's all happening so fast!
But those are just the announcements, there's also just been so many other miracles this week!
Just to name a few:
- Matthew received the priesthood this week and got a calling to be a ward greeter!
- we started teaching this lady, Erica, who is so prepared and wanting to find a church community for her and her son! So exciting!
- we DIDN'T get shot at Captain Jay's Fish & Chicken in Southfield 🙏
- we were calling people who had formerly been taught by missionaries and our friend, Stella answers and the first thing she says after we introduce ourselves is "oh is church happening now?? I'll see you there next Sunday! Make sure to come by and visit this week too!" So cool, we are excited to start teaching her!
Small Plates:
I've been studying President Nelson's faith talk from this last conference and the second point that he makes about choosing to believe has really been on my mind!
So I wanted to take a second to share how I came to know Jesus Christ is my Savior! I have been taught that truth growing up and I wanted to know for myself, so that's when I started reading the Book of Mormon everyday! I can't say that I had this overwhelming feeling of "YES, THIS IS TRUE!" but I kept at it. And one day, I just chose to believe. I decided this is something I want to believe in, this is something that could mean a lot to me if it is true! And when I made that decision in prayer to God, the Holy Ghost filled me with this small, but very present feeling of love and joy! I have a strong conviction that Jesus is my Savior and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God!
This week, I want to encourage y'all to read the Book of Mormon and ask God to bring you that assurance that it's true! We can do this again and again! Make the decision to choose to believe and the assurance will come! I can promise that! And it will bring you so much joy!
Love y'all! Have a wonderful week! 🌞
