Family and friends,
Things are wild down here in Brownsville! Lots of crazy experiences mixed in with some nice spiritual ones all topped off with tacos and more rice ๐
One super good thing that happened this week is the Escobar family came to church! All of them! They're an inactive family that we've visited a lot and they're finally ready to come back! I love them so much they're fantastic people :)
I also went on an incredible exchange with a new sister missionary and she taught me so much. I love her animo and readiness to do the work.
We also had some really amazing spiritual lessons with people this week. It's amazing to listen to people's stories and understand their needs and help them understand how the gospel can help them overcome their challenges. We're teaching a really good woman and she has been through so much in her life. We left her with a Book of Mormon and she loves it. She shared with us how she had reached a really low point in her life and was considering taking her life, when we talked to her outside and helped her with her yard work and listened to her and shared with her the gospel. It's amazing how the atonement of Jesus Christ helps people overcome their lowest lows and find peace and comfort.
The members are amazing as usual. My companion is hilarious as always. I think the biggest thing she's taught me is how to laugh even when everything goes south. When we locked ourselves out of the apartment a couple weeks ago I was bummed, and she just looked at me and said, "Sister Aragon, this is the spice of life." ๐
President Nelson said in one of his talks that "Saints can be happy under any circumstance." and that's when we're focused on Christ! My challenge to all of you is to look for the "spice of life". Read the scriptures a little more, and laugh at all the little stumbling blocks Satan's trying to put in your path. Cry if you need to but then wipe those tears away and go give someone a Book of Mormon :)
Love you all! Have the best week! Pray that the mosquitos go away ๐
