Heyo!!!
As usual, being a missionary is wonderful!
This week we had to stop teaching several amazing people because they've all been facing some challenges. Claudia is still working on overcoming obstacles in her life but it is still her goal to someday go to the temple. Jaruni also still has a lot of interest, but a difficult family situation is keeping him from being baptized for the next little while. Fidel wasn't ready to come to church either, but has a greater understanding of the importance of the scriptures and who God is. I love them all, and hope that someday in the future missionaries will find them again!!!
Yesterday Sister Alfaro and I were excited to go out and work to find some new people to teach. We visited the Arteaga family- a very active young family in the branch, and we were walking down the street to visit some other potentials, when we felt prompted to offer to help an older lady who was taking things out of her car. Her name is Rosario Limones and she is AMAZING!!! At first she declined our help and stated that she was very Catholic, but then we just started talking about different things and we started talking about family history. She has a lot of interest and said we could come back on Thursday to help her in the yard and also with family history. She then invited us in and made us sit and eat her delicious chorizo con huevos y frijoles y tortillas y frutas y dulces mexicanas. You can never say no to their food jaja. As we were talking and eating together she mentioned that she taught two other sister missionaries how to cook and make pan dulce about a year ago. She then got all teary eyed and pulled out a binder. She opened it and told us that because she has cataracts she can't see very well, but her passion is to cook and bake. The other sister missionaries took some of her recipe books, went to the library, and translated several recipes from english into spanish, and then made the type large enough for her to read it.
We can't wait to go back to Sister Limones and bring some members to help her with her family history. :) Family history is amazing!!!
