Transfers are this week, but Sister Paskett and I get to stay!!!! I'm so happy because I'm really falling in love with this area and I really didn't want to miss Celina's wedding and baptism! The longer I'm here in Weslaco/Donna the more I love it. Sister Paskett and I are moving into another apartment in the area with Sister Clark and a greenie! So it'll be two greenies in one apartment and I'm so pumped! It's nice because Sis. Paskett and I get to keep working in the same area with the same ward but it's a little change and we get to have fun and learn with some other sisters too!
Yesterday was absolutely amazing. We were in Sunday School, and the teacher Sister Valdez is a rockstar. She and her family were baptized about 5 years ago and they will do anything and everything to help people. They are true disciples of Christ!!! Anyways she was teaching about the premortal life, and we were just discussing our purpose here on earth and how God created his plan for us and Celina said, "That's why I'm falling in love with the Gospel. Because everything makes sense. I'm falling in love with it." The Spirit was so strong and I am so amazed at how God has taken Celina from where she used to be and turned her into a completely new person. She may not see it, but I'm so amazed at how much she's grown and I know she's going to bless so many lives with the gospel. She get's married August 25th and baptized September 1st. It can't come fast enough! Actually it can because time is going so fast out here!!!
We also met this amazing girl named Amber!!! Her mom is a member and has cirrhosis of the liver, she's really sick. They recently moved into the ward and the ward has done an amazing job of helping them out. Amber and Sister Barbosa came in with absolutely nothing, but people have loved them and have helped them get on their feet here. I'm blown away by the generosity and love of the members here. We started teaching Amber and she said she wanted to be baptized! She'll be a member on August 18th! She really is a golden person. Sister Paskett and I are so stinkin blessed to be able to teach her. The Lord has really prepared her for meeting the missionaries. She loves all the lessons and is keeping her commitments so well. I love her so much and I just love being a missionary!
Probably the low of this week was that we started talking to this really nice guy, but then he just started Bible bashing with us. I was not down to Bible bash so I just quickly thanked him for his time and gave him a pamphlet and told him that God loves him and my companion and I basically ran out of there! I don't think God wants his children to fight about religion ever and I think it's a waste of time haha. But other than that the week was pretty good.
We also ate cow tongue this week! Honestly it wasn't bad! Kind of mushy but edible. Haha I never thought I'd eat that in an English area!!!
Well there are so many blessings every day! I love being a missionary and I can't believe the time is going so fast. I miss you all but I love it so much here.
