Hey everyone!!!!
This week was so amazing!!!! Words can't even describe how great this work is. I wish you all back home could experience this with me, because my emails home just don't do it justice. I also wish I had 3 hours every night to write down all the cool miracles! Some discouraging things happen during the day, but there are so many cool miracles that when I sit down to write what happened I don't even remember the sad moments! The Lord really works in mysterious ways, and always puts us where we need to be. One miracle we saw this week was we had planned to go to a potential investigator, and on our way there we ended up on a different street where 2 of our investigators live. Sister Paskett said "wait, this isn't where we were headed. I wasn't paying attention!" But then I said, "well we're already here so let's visit them." We knocked on Nancy's door, and she was home but didn't answer. We had to end up dropping her, which was sad. But while we were waiting at Nancy's door, we heard yelling from our other investigators apartment. As we walked down the street, we could see and hear the mom and stepdad yelling at each other in Spanish. We found some people outside and stopped to talk to them while the fight continued. Right as we finished sharing the gospel with these 2 men, the stepdad drove away, and her mom went inside the house. We were hesitant to go knock, but it seemed like perfect timing that they had stopped fighting right then, and I knew we were on that street for a reason. One of the boys answered the door, and I wasn't sure what to say, but then Sister Pakett asked if Catherine, the 15 year old daughter, was there. She came outside to talk to us, and just started crying. She's 15, and has so much strength. I know God wanted us there at that time so that we could talk to Catherine. We were able to listen to her and we showed her a Mormon Message called Mountains to Climb. She really wants to come to church, and we just need to find someone in the ward to give her a ride. She's lived a hard life, but I know that the gospel can help her manage the difficult things she's dealing with right now. One of my favorite scriptures is Mathew 11:28-30. It says, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give ye rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
I love this scripture, because it is so simple. When we follow Christ, all of our burdens are made light!!! I wish people would understand that!!!! Alma 29:1-3 describes my feelings perfectly. When we repent and do what God wants us to do, our joy can be made full. I wish I could shout it from the rooftops, and help everyone come closer to Christ. This gospel is so true. I'm so lucky I get to be a missionary.
