Time is going by

I have 52 weeks left of my mission. In other words, a year from now I will be coming home. It seems kind of crazy. I've been told that from now on the mission will fly by. In just 2 transfers I will reach my halfway point. It is a strange that, but enough about that and let's talk about this week. Thursday was my first official mandarian role play. This is where we meet up with another mandarian companionship and practice working together with translations. Both people in the companionship are expected to contribute to the teaching even if there is a language barrier. Only the Chinese sisters have a special role play practice for this. I'm not sure why, supposedly it has to do with the fact that the sisters struggle with translating and working together. Either way it was an interesting experience. We were also able to watch the new Conference Center video. It plays every 20 minutes in the theater and helps guest understand more about temples and the renovations of the Salt Lake Temple.

This weekend we had a person of ours get baptized! Ali is from New York but he was originally born in Yemen. Sister Sims picked him up off the queue during her first transfer almost a year ago. He was really interested in the church, but struggled with a few things which made him unable to be baptized. After a few different dates, he was finally baptized and confirmed this weekend. I was so happy for him. We read the Book of Mormon with him over the phone and he has been working hard to be able to be baptized and make that special promise to come closer to Jesus Christ. I know it will bless his life and he will be able to have the gift of the spirit with him all the time.

On Monday we had exchanges with our district leaders. My last three transfers my district leader was always alone with her companion, but this transfer I have co-district leaders. In other words Sister Jorgensen and Sister Clark are both our district leaders. I went on exchange with Sister Clark and Sister Tan went on exchange with Sister Jorgensen. It was a great day. Sister Clark is from Calgary, Alberta. I had her in my last district and she is really sweet and only wants to help other people succeed. We also went out to eat to celebrate my 6 month mark. It was great food and a member was nice enough to pay for our meal.

On Tuesday we had Relief Society. This time we had it in Theater 4, in the basement of the North Visitor Center. Directly afterward was a homebound meeting. Sister Tan had to go so I went on a temporary exchange with Sister Curtis. She is a sister from Georgia who is a transfer behind me. She is also in the Relief Society presidency for the mission. I was able to help her out with getting some of her responsibilities done while her companion and mine were in the meeting. She is super nice and we had a good time. That night I tried to go to bed a little earlier because this morning we woke up at 5 am to go to the temple. It was my first time at the bountiful temple. We drove there in the morning as a district for the 7 am session. Afterward we had a short trip to Walmart and some lunch at in-n-out. By the time we made it back home pday was 20 minutes away. Basically it means we had an all day pday. It was kind of nice to do everything early and have lots of time today to relax for once. The Bountiful temple is beautiful and I look forward to attending sessions there until the end of my mission.

That is about all for this week. Next week I am hoping for another few baptisms as well as the beginning of zone conferences. One thing that did start this week was zone prayers every morning. Except for Tuesday and Sunday, our zone comes together at 8:10 am MST to pray together for all our people. Our zone leaders encouraged us to invite our family and friends to join in our prayer. If any of you are interested we would love to feel your spirit with us. You can pray with us at the same time, or pray at different times through the day. Already we have felt the blessings of our unified prayer. We may not entirely pray together, but we can all feel the support of our faith and our spirits.

I love all of you and thank you uall for the support and live you show to me and all others everyday. Talk to you next week!
Sister Christensen
