Happy New Year 2020

Happy New Year to all! I hope everyone is ready for 2020. This week was fun as it included Christmas. Christmas morning the mission met together to have a small breakfast. During the meeting we had 33 sisters called to go outbound in January. This included Sister Hunter who was called to the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. Sisters were called to California, New York, Texas, Ohio, Georgia, and many other places in the USA. I will once again be getting a new companion next transfer. Hopefully I don't make a habit of sending people outbound. Afterward we went to the main floor of the South visitor center to get our mission gifts. Each sister received gift cards, a mission hoodie, and some other gifts. It was really nice of people to go out and get us things to make our Christmas special. After the meeting we went home to call our families and open presents. For a late lunch our district got together to have a Christmas meal. We played the game Mafia and I acted as the narrator. The sisters had a blast and want to play it again another time. It was a happy and relaxing day. Our christmas celebration ended at 6 and we were back on square to our regular christmas routine.

Saturday was a special day where my family was able to visit. Being able to see them in person was a great gift. We spent some time together and had some fun. It is amazing being on a mission and I am glad they were able to see a small part of what I do. I will see them again next January, but for now I have a lot more work to do.

Sunday was my birthday. I am now 20 years old. Honestly, I don't feel like a 20 year old. That is just a weird number. The morning began with church and music and the spoken word with Sister Hunter's mother. It was the New Years special and included the Bells on Temple Square. The sisters were so nice to wish me happy birthday. They all did their best to make it a nice day for me. Sister Hunter even convinced the people in our tour to sing Happy Birthday to me in the Tabernacle. At the end of the day I was surprised to find a small get together of Sisters to wish me Happy Birthday. My roommates even made a big brownie "cake" for everyone to enjoy. Overall it was a wonderful day on the mission.

Today is my second to last pday. My next pday will be the day before transfers and by then I will know who my new companion will be and everything that will be going on. I will let you all know next week. Today Sister Hunter is dying her hair back to it's original blonde color. It isn't as light as she hoped, but it is hard to turn black hair into totally blonde in just a few hours. We also were surprised by my district. We had a surprise party and had cake and played charades for my birthday. It was really nice of them. Later today we have our district activity. Our district leader got special permission to hold our activity from 10pm-12pm to celebrate the new year. I am looking forward to the fun games we will play together in anticipation of 2020. Luckily tomorrow we still get up at 7:30. 6:30 wake up will start Thursday morning. This final week will be filled with meetings and changes to prepare for outbound. Starting tomorrow the sisters will be serving in the conference center and starting today the South visitor center is official closed. Change is coming, we will see what the future may bring.

Talk to you next week,
Sister Christensen
