Merry Christmas
Christmas is tomorrow! This is exciting. The square as been packed with people the last few nights to get into the Christmas spirit, but back to this week. We had zone conference this week and my zone was on Wednesday. We learned about the significance of the wise men. We must always seek after the savior. The one who gave the lesson, President Littlefield, has a program to help the people in Africa and he was able to get a hand carved "wiseman" from the people there for each sister. He gave it as a way for us to remember to always seek after Christ. We also had another discussion about the conference center that we will be working at beginning on January 2. There will be new videos, exhibits, and an open layout to welcome all people. I feel like it will be something really great to see during the next 4 years. Zone Conference may be a long 6 hours, but I can really feel the love of God and there is always so much to learn.
Friday was moving day as you might have seen on Facebook. Our mission home and lunch space was below the South Visitor Center, but it will be demolished in January, so we had to move elsewhere. The offices are now located in the basement of the Relief Society building. It is a nice space, but much smaller than the offices we had below the south visitor center. We moved our lunch area to the basement of the Joseph Smith Memorial building. Also a nice space, but it is open to the public which is something we will have to get used to. It may seem weird, but all the sisters liked having a place they could relax for short times. On square and in the open we always have to be ready to stop and answer questions, take pictures, give tours, etc. If people came down and spoke to us we would lose a lot of our lunch hour which is our only break during the day. It is like shopping on Pday. People like to stop and talk to us, but we can only take the cars for a few hours and won't be able to get the things we need if someone stops us at the store to talk for an hour. We love people, but sometimes you want a little bit of a break and time to relax.
Overall, I think the changes will be good and we will do what we can with what we are given. On Saturday we had our first motorcoach together. It was a youth group from Idaho. We tried our best to interact with the youth by asking questions, some of them responded, others looked bored. As long as we helped at least one person grow closer to Christ we succeeded in our purpose.
Sunday was the Christmas special at church. We had the wives of the mission presidency speak to us and 5 different musical numbers from sisters. It was relaxing and spiritual as always. At dinner we had a few families bring food for us. It was so nice to get a warm, home cooked meal. With our busy schedule we barely have time to eat much less cook food. They also gave us a scarf and pair of gloves. A wonderful way to start off the Christmas season. Monday was an exciting day for me. A few weeks ago in early November, President Fisher gave us a challenge to read the four gospels before Christmas. I am happy to say that I completed John 21 yesterday! I learned so much. It was a great blessing to read of my Savior and the sacrifice he made to allow all of us to become better people and return to our Heavenly Father one day. That is what the Christmas season is really about. We can all remember the savior and the great blessing he was to the world. He died so that each of us might live again.
I hope all of you have an amazing Christmas this year. I miss my family, but I know I that I am here to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who wish to improve there lives. Tomorrow morning is outbound calls and a fun time with our whole mission. We'll just have to see what happens. Merry Christmas!
P.S. Since we changed mission homes our address is also changed. If anything was sent using the old address it will still reach us l, but here is the new address for anything in the future!
