Another week has gone by with the Christmas season in full swing. I am still getting used to my new living quarters. It is much busier with sisters all over. On Thursday was Thanksgiving of course. We were on square until it closed at noon. Then we had a family come and pick us up to eat with them. Our family was the Jolley's. It was delicious and was nice to eat with a family and have a good time. We shared a message about being thankful for our blessings everyday. It was a great experience about working with members and helping them feel the spirit.
On Friday the Christmas season began. We had exchanges with our district leader and her companion. Sister López was in the MTC with me and came late to square becuase she was Visa waiting in Canada. Our day began with a French pass-off tour. This just means she takes other sisters around to show that she can give a complete tour in French. Sister López can now give regular tours in French. Later Joe and Zela came to visit with their kids. It was nice to see familiar faces as always. I hope you enjoyed your time on Temple Square! The South Visitor Center where they found me will be demolished next month, so just the right time to visit. They left before the snowstorm rolled in. Luckily, I was able to hide in the buildings to avoid the snow. At 5 pm the Christmas lights turned on for the first time this year. It got very busy very fast. We had only one Christmas shift which was in one of the theaters in North Visitor Center. We played The Christ Child for guests. The sisters are very busy from 5 pm to 9 pm every night. There are Sisters singing all over square, monitoring the line at the Christus Statue, and spreading Christmas cheer all over the square. Every night we get together as zones and sing for half an hour in front of the tabernacle. It is fun, but cold.
During Christmas the square is open until 10 pm. So we go to bed around 11:30 pm and get up at 7:30 am. The only downside is days we have early meetings we still have to get up at 6:30 am. Really exhausting, but I love seeing the lights every night. Starting this week my Pday started at 9 am and ends at 6 pm to stay on square the rest of the night. Other things this week included District Council that Sister Hunter and I taught. We taught about the elf code from the movie Elf. We use it to always remember Christ, help other people, and use our talents to bless the lives of others.
Overall the season is crazy. Lots of different shifts to handle all the different people. We sing and spread Christmas cheer while attempting to stay warm. As we sing sometimes people would join us to sing Christmas songs. It was fun to see the smiles and joy on their faces as they sang loud for all to hear. We should also be able to find that joy that comes through Jesus Christ. That is where our happiness is as we follow the example of the savior every moment of our lives. Today we had relief society and celebrated the December birthdays. I can't believe I'll be 20 in just a few weeks. I am excited to move forward with new possibilities and experiences here on Temple Square. Until next week!
