Hello everyone! This week has brought a lot of changes. A lot of this week was filled with packing our bags to move to new places. Sister Sims out of state and me to a new apartment building. On Thursday we had relief society and our mission photo. Every 6 months we have a picture taken in the tabernacle of everyone in the mission. As soon as it is printed they frame it in the mission home for all to see. Later that day we explored at the Humanitarian Center. It is the Humanitarian arm of the church and they work with refugees and other people to help them get stable jobs to support themselves. Along with Welfare Square it was a really cool place to see how much can be down to really help people in need. We may sometimes feel like we can't do much on our own, but a few handfuls by many will do a lot of good in the world. To end the day, the zone leaders called to tell me who my next companion would be and where I would be moving to.
On Saturday we had moving day. I met with the driver of my car at 7:00 am to move my things to the other building. All the people who had to change buildings were assigned a car and a time to move all of our things. We drove my suitcases down to the new apartment and walked back to our old one. I kept just enough things in the old apartment to have clothes, food, and other things until transfer day arrived. Saturday was a great day, we found multiple people interested in learning more about the church and the Book of Mormon. By the end of the day we had passed out six copies to different people. It was a great blessing. Sometimes it is nice to see the effect we are having on those around us.
After a calm Sunday, we finally arrived to transfer day on Monday. We woke up at 5:00 am to finish packing Sister Sims bags for outbound. She gets to take one suitcase and a carryon with her. The other suitcase goes into storage here at the square until the sister returns. At 6 we made our way down to the garage to see her off to the airport. I was sad to see her go, but there are people waiting for her in South Carolina to learn about the gospel in their lives. I stayed with one of the other sisters that had an outbound companion until we could walk to the square at 8.
Finally I met up with my new companion, Sister Hunter. She is from Missouri. She is awesome, and I can't wait to learn as much as possible from her for the next six weeks. We began our day together by opening square and unlocking the doors to the visitor centers. We ten had various assignments and introduced each other to the people we are teaching online. I feel like it will be a good transfer especially with the Christmas season coming upon us. My new apartment building is a little crazy because it is all missionaries, but I'm sure I will get used to it soon.
We will see what the future has in store. Grandma and Grandpa Christensen visited with me today. I took them on a short tour and then we went out to lunch. It was nice to see them. I wasn't expecting as I hadn't been able to look at my emails in a while, but it was a nice surprise. This Thursday we get to eat dinner with a member family in Salt Lake, and on Friday the Christmas lights will turn on for the first time this year. It will be great. Talk to everyone next week.
