Preparing for Conference
This week is very exciting. We are all preparing for General Conference this weekend. To start this week I had my first Zone Conference. You might have seen a few pictures on facebook. It is a meeting from 9am to 3pm. We learned a lot about our purpose and what we can do to improve as missionaries. Zone Conference was held on the upper floor of the Lion House. On Thursday and Friday we did exchanges with our District Leader. Sister Kearns is from Texas and her brother was in my MTC district. She is super nice. We made a goal for our day together to hand out two Book of Mormons. Throughout the day we really didn't find anyone interested. To end the day we had a tour and two people asked for a Book. We were so happy to meet our goal. We finished the day at the Family History Center. It told us more about where we came from and about the year we were born and the years our ancestors were born. It was very fun and I would recommend anyone to try it who is in the area.
The next day I was with my district leaders companion. Sister Merryman from Maine. Together we went to the top of the Church Office Building and saw an aerial view of the square. I'll include some pictures below. The view was absolutely amazing. I also had the great blessing to call my mom for her birthday. I wouldn't be anywhere without her and my dad. I love them both so much. Other pictures on facebook included the pizza party we had for having clean apartments.
Sunday was fast sunday for those of us on the square. Our fast and testimony meeting went an extra half an hour because so many sisters wanted to share. It was great. Yesterday I finally did my first service project. We get to do one service project every transfer. We volunteered for the Days for Girls project. This is a program to provide reusable feminine supplies to girls in third world countries. This allows them to stay in school even during that time of the month. We checked the supplies and packed bags to ship to other countries.
Today we participate in the mission activity. The sisters do it on their own pday, which is today for me. We are watching the Sound of Music. We are all very excited. Preparations for general conference are on the way. I encourage all of you to watch the sessions and tell me what you think! I, sadly, only get to watch one session. My zone is attending the Sunday Afternoon session. It is going to be crazy busy here and we already had a safety briefing on what to do it different situations. The square has a great security team to keep everyone safe. I am grateful for all the blessings I receive everyday and can't wait to tell you all more about how conference goes.
