Hello from Chikushino! Life is good here with me and the new missionary! Her name is Sister Armstrong and she's from Carlsbad, California! She is half Filipino. I am lucky to get a Californian! We went to trainers training where the new missionaries and their trainers got to meet and we became really good friends, right off the bat. She's super fun and we have a lot of the same interests. Her testimony is so strong and she wants to work so hard. We have already hit the ground running!!
We have seen so many miracles despite all the crazy things thrown our way this first week here. For instance, the member coming to pick us up and our luggage from the train station got in a car accident and we were stranded at the station but luckily another member was nearby and she picked us up! (Also the member who got in the car accident is alright). When Sister Cordero's bike was being transferred, they actually took my bike too and it got sent to another area so we have been off our bikes, which means we have had to proselyte really close by our apartment. But the areas near our apartment where we have never proselyted before, we have found so many new investigators! Literally, so many miracles!
It was really sad saying goodbye to my last companion Sister Cordero. She was here in this area for 6 months so it was hard watching her leave this place that she loves so much. We got to visit a lot of members and say good bye though. One member we said goodbye to has a daughter on the mission and we talked with her for a while about missionary work and we cried talking about how amazing missionary work is and how when she sees us missionaries she sees her daughter and we are such good examples to her. I just love these members so so much.
Anyways, things are going well here in Chikushino. We have just been working so hard, like the hardest I've ever done on my mission and I'm really starting to see the blessings from it. I know that when we truly lose ourselves in the service we find so much joy and we can truly see others as the Lord sees them. I love this work and I love this mission!!
Love, Sister Atwood
