Hello everyone! Tons of things happened this week and I don't have all day to write them all down so here we go.
This week we went to Naha to do exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders! It was a so much fun! I went with Sister McCarrey from Hawaii. I knew her in the MTC so that was a fun little reunion! She is so good at missionary work and we had an absolute blast. We met so many amazing people and it was so fun proselyting in a really big city. We saw tons of miracles, including a new investigator! We were going down this big street and we saw this really tall apartment building and I told Sister McCarrey that I felt we should knock it and so we stopped and started from the top floor. No one was home and we kept knocking for a while and finally someone answered. It was this lady and at first, she was like "I'm sorry I'm busy right now" but I kept talking to her anyways completely ignoring what she said, haha. We talked to her about God and the purpose of life and where we go after we die. She ended up expressing lots of interest about our church and said that she has been searching for her purpose and a religion. We shared with her the Book of Mormon and she talked about how she felt like this is what she was looking for. It was such a cool miracle! Right before we left, she was like "Wait hold on, I want to show you my pet" and we were like "um okay sure!" and she comes back with this iguana!! It was so cool haha, she let us pet it.
We met with a lot of our investigators this week. Some that have been investigators for a long time and some that are brand new. We taught a lot about the Restoration this week and I love teaching about the Restoration. We're excited to help them along the road to baptism. I definitely feel the happiest when I'm teaching the gospel to others and helping them on the path to return to our Heavenly Father.
This past week, me and Sister Sato have really been focusing on following the Spirit while we are looking for people and we really have seen so many miracles. We were led to this one man who was a firefighter and he also expressed that he was searching for his purpose and a religion. We talked to him about God and how through prayer we can talk to Him and find answers to anything and receive comfort. He asked us how we can do that and we pulled out the Book of Mormon. We shared Alma 37:37, "Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day." He took a long time to read it and when he finished he looked up to us with tears in his eyes. He said he really liked the verse and wanted to read more of the book. We gladly gave it to him and told him that God really does care for him and knows his situation and knows what he's going through. We didn't end up getting a return appointment with him but I know that that man needed that strength from the Book of Mormon that night.
Another led-by-the-Spirit story, we were knocking some apartments before going to visit a recent convert and we knocked this one and the people we talked to were like "oh the other missionaries from your church came last week" meaning, the elders had already knocked this apartment so we were about to leave. But then I felt this strong impression to keep going and we did and we knocked into this one guy who lived alone and said "oh, you guys came last week, but I didn't open the door, sorry." We talked to him more and he talked about how his dad is Christian so he knows a little bit about Christianity. We talked about God and how we can find happiness from Him. He said that in his life right now he wasn't happy because his wife left him a year ago and he lives alone. We told him that through the gospel we can feel happiness and it's through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we can find forgiveness and relief from any mistake that we make. He told us that he wanted to learn more and asked us when our church was. It was such a cool miracle because I definitely know that the gospel of Jesus Christ can really help him. I'm grateful for the guidance of the Spirit.
Anyways, Futenma is awesome and me and Sister Sato are seeing miracles every single day! この経験は素晴らしい. 宣教師の機会にかんしゃしています!
