Hello from Okinawa! - Week 2

こんにちは!!
This week was full of baptisms and typhoons and at the same time!! For the past week the island has been hit pretty bad with heavy rain and really strong winds. Like, so strong that we would get on our bikes and get pushed over by the wind. Total hurricane mode! But don't worry, we've spent the last couple of days walking instead of biking. Anyways, we got news that a typhoon was coming but we still went out everyday and worked! It was really cool to experience a typhoon! Hopefully we'll get to see some more!
Anyways, in the midst of the storm, we had a baptism. A 9-year-old girl named Yukina was baptized and it was so great! It was a small baptism, because she only wanted her family there but it was great! Like always, I played the music for the baptism. (I was called to Japan to play piano haha!) We all felt the spirit really strong and it was a great experience! All her family came even though there was practically a hurricane outside! Just goes to show that admist the storms and tempests, there can be peace and holiness.
With our other investigator Asuka, we have a baptismal date set for Oct 14! We're so excited!! Up until now she was having a problem with having faith in Christ and so this last week we watched the church's video "Finding Faith in Christ." The Spirit was so strong and it testified to her of the truthfulness of our message. She loved the video and finally began to understand a little more about what faith was and why she needed faith. She expressed that she wanted to gain her own testimony of Jesus Christ. This week we will continue to work with her towards her baptism goal. Faith in Christ is so important and will pull us through the darkest times. It's like the little ray of sunshine poking through the storm (tyhpoon). Our faith can really be a light for us in the darkest of times and carry us through.
This past week we also visited with the Wilkins family on the military base. The military base is like a small American town just compacted into a small area surrounded by huge fences. There are tons of military personnel walking around. They have schools, libraries, stores and everything for the military people. It was so cool getting to go on base! Anyways, the Wilkins family are from Oceanside, CA. They're having a baby soon but they welcomed us into their home and we had a great time. We shared a message of faith in Christ. Sister Wilkins is a convert to the church and it was so great to hear her express her faith and testimony. We're currently helping them get to the temple so that their family can be sealed for time and all eternity. I have a testimony of Christ and temples and I know that through Christ we can be sealed and have eternal families. The temple can bring us so many blessings!!
Anyways, overall a great week! さようなら! 愛しています!!
Love,
Sister Atwood
