Hey Family and Friends, Long time no talk. 申し訳ありません! 『I have no excuse :/)
First off, to my best friends and beloved family members who have emailed me and not gotten a reply- I am SO SORRY! I love you! I will do my best to get back to you!
I`m writing this email from the island of Shikoku- I`ve made it to the rock my last transfer! God is really awesome because He knows I`ve always kind of wanted to work on Shikoku- and here I am!
My new companion is fresh out of the MTC and ready to go! Her name is Kuwamo`omendiola Shimai! Or from here on out for the sake of time- K Shimai.:) She`s from the big island in Hawaii, and she`s amazing. So happy, so up for an adventure- and her first few days have sure been an adventure! We`re on our way to open up a sisters area in a place called Tokushima!... but we don`t have an apartment yet. So we`ve been hanging out with the Takamatsu sisters for this past week. We got to go to church though (it only took two hours by train to get there, yayyy countrysideeeee) and we loved it. So pumped to get work done there. We`ll be moving in this thursday!
Now, to this past month and a half- let's see what I can remember.
Actually, this past transfer has been one of the busiest ones ever. Lots was learned, Allen Shimai was made to be humble and teachable, and miracles happened.
So I guess I`ll start with my companion- she`s famous in the mission for being one of the hardest working missionaries. She has followed me to every single one of my areas, and finally caught up to me and became my companion. She is the amazing Omisaki Shimai, and man- I learned how to be a missionary from her. She`s from Yamaguchi. She is a convert of three years. She is on fire.
I`ll share just one of the biggest miracles we were able to see together; A shimai.
A Shimai- man, I love this girl with all my heart. She`s 23, loves walking and nature and people. She can become friends with anyone. We met her walking down the street. She had just gotten rid of her cell phone, so we met her and she was amazing, and we were like `Wait, how are we going to meet you again?` She showed us where she worked, and we said we`d visit again. We visited the next week, and she told us `I was hoping every day that you guys would stop by!` We started meeting her about every day from there on out, and she went through a lot of good times, bad times, and in the end- she came to know that God loves her, that the Book of Mormon is true, and that the gospel is the only way to be happy in this life. when I left on Thursday, she wanted to be baptized but didn't have a baptism day. Then on Saturday, she went to a baptism for a little kid in the ward. She watched the baptism, and said `I feel like I need to be baptized tomorrow.` That day, She learned all of the commandments, gave up her apartment, and a lot of other things. Yesterday, she was able to begin her journey on the way back home to her Heavenly Father. She is an eternal best friend:)
That was the lamest summary of one of the most amazing people I`ve met on my mission. But friends and family, I saw her change as she learned about the gospel! She found hope and peace. She recognized that God has been guiding her all along. She found the source of her peace. She came to know the gospel is true.
It was really cool, because the thing that made the biggest difference for her was reading the Book of Mormon every day. The scriptures have real power.
Okay I feel like the more I write the more scattered this is going to get so I`m going to just stop here, but I`ll share some cool scriptures I found that I feel like apply to my last 6 weeks!
15 And now, O all ye that have imagined up unto yourselves a god who can do no miracles, I would ask of you, have all these things passed, of which I have spoken? Has the end come yet? Behold I say unto you, Nay; and God has not ceased to be a God of miracles.
16 Behold, are not the things that God hath wrought marvelous in our eyes? Yea, and who can comprehend the marvelous works of God?
19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.
I`ve been so lucky to see God work miracles so much over the past year and a half. I`ve seen his marvelous works! He`s the best! I know He`ll keep doing the same, because He doesn`t change. The end hasn't come quite yet:) (and let's be honest, it never really will. (#missionary5ever).. Therefore, I`m super pumped to see what he has in plan for Tokushima this next 6 weeks. :)
Hope you all get to see a cool miracle this week. Miracles happen when you look for them, I promise!
Love you all!
