Happy Valentine's Day! (Oh, and I got hit by a car!)

Happy Valentine's Day!(Collaboration take 2)

Another great week, and I'm thankful that I have a companion who will write about half of it for me <3

Tuesday- since Valentines was this week, we played `I love you`, a game where you say I love you to the person next to you in a circle without laughing on either side. In a country where those words are hardly said or heard.. the kids were cracking up. it was pretty fun.

Wednesday: got to hang out with Allison Shimai for the day and we had a blast giving little paper hearts to everyone we saw that day! We also taught our little 12 year old punks how to sing the song "love one another".. It was great. (Follow up: we met one of their little brothers on the train he said she has been singing it all week! Yay for the power of music to change punk's hearts!)

Thursday: found out how real God is and that he protects his missionaries! The two of us got hit by a car as we were crossing on a green, he was turning and didn't see us. We walked away with maybe two bruises, and he drove away with a HUGE dent. the math sure doesn't add up with that, but I know 100% that God was watching out for us! we even ran to the Eki the next morning to catch the train, so you know we're good. God just wanted us to meet those people? ;)

Friday: we headed up to Sasayama, a town in our area about an hour away from where we live. Can I just express some hardcore respect for the cute families in our branch (church unit) that live up there? They get their little kids ready and drive an hour to church every week, then stay for forever to help out after church, and then drive an hour back home. And they do it with a smile! Love them. And also I'll never complain about a 15 min drive again. We got to visit and heart attack a few and share some Valentine's Day love.:) pics and vids to follow

Saturday: woke up bright and early to head to Kobe for a meeting, but we didn't go alone- the coolest 15 yr old kid in Nishiwaki (as mentioned a few emails ago) came with us! He woke up at 6:00 on a Saturday morning to come spend 8 hours in a meeting with us and learn about the atonement of Jesus Christ. What's even better is that he
took notes, payed attention, and LOVED it. And then as the meeting ended, we were getting ready to run to our train in the pouring rain, and he was like "wait.. Let's say a prayer first!" So we all bowed our heads right there and he thanked God for the meeting and asked that we'd be able to get home safely. (What 15 year old does this?¿) on the train ride home, he was telling us about how a few months before, he didn't really feel like he needed the church. But through some hard and lonely times, he said that he realized that the gospel is always here for us when we need it, and it becomes what you live for. I've seen lots of people change on my mission, but this 15 year old kid is one I'll never forget.

Sunday was fun. The microphone in church stopped working so the two grandmas who spoke in church used a karaoke microphone.. Too fun. And while we were singing hymns a brother in the ward was working on the broken mike and it was just this funny noise. We spent Sunday night with our eikaiwa family and did FHE. But before we could teach they fed us SO MUCH sushi. It was a make your own sushi and they just kept putting nori (seaweed) and rice on our plate. We did a game where we draw out each other's faces passed in a circle and write nice things about them on the back. We challenged the family to say something nice to each other all week because God gave us our families and we need to love each other!

All in all, it was another good week:)

Because it's Valentine's Day, I'll share some of my favorite lovey scriptures with you all:)

1 John 4
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

God is love, and we are able to love because we learned how to first from him! Because he loves us, he gave us the chance to live this life and choose happiness. When we choose to follow Jesus, we choose happiness. I promise that is true 100% of the time!

So minasan- let`s love those people we meet this week! And remember- It doesn't matter how much you love someone if they don`t know it! Love is a verb. :)

-あいしてます!
